Hi Nasaman,
Curious which of the Monoprice HDMI cable you tried, they have anywhere from entry level to high end with gold plating and nice jacket as well as thick gauge conductors up to 22AWG if I remember correctly. In my experience, their higher priced offerings are considerably better than their entry level versions.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Nasaman, we have tried other HDMI cables from Crystal Cables, Nordost, PS Audio, Kimber Kables, AudioQuest and Wireworld. |
"...and its the best that we have ever tried..."
Hello HifiSoundGuy. Which have you tried, what are they? |
I'm using an Wegrzyn pure silver HDMI cable and its the best that we have ever tried. The depth of field is very 3D and life-like and the colors look very natural and film-like. |
Oops, I forgot to add on the Monster-1000 on the list.
- Nordost Silver Screen: 8 (very bright, clean and details. Low noise). Highly recommend for High-end users.
- AQ hdmi-3:............ 8 (very deep, beautiful, and accurate colors. Great details & very low noise). Highly recommend for hi-end users.
- AQ hdmi-1:............ 7.5 (colorful, details, and low noise) Recommend for Hi-end users.
- Supra Cable v1.3:..... 7 (bright, clean, & details. Low noise & decent price). Good for Hi-end users.
- BlueJeanCable:........ 5 (decent colors, somewhat noisy & lack of sharpness. Great price.) Decent for Hi-end users.
- Monster-1000:......... 4.5 (its video quality is, somewhat, equally to BJC)I wouldn't buy it.
- MonoPrice:............ 2 (very dark, nasty, & inaccurate colors. Lots of video noise; it's a VCR's picture quality) Not recommend for Hi-end users. |
Check out this product. 25AWG Solid Silver plated copper conductors with gas-injected foamed PE insulation.

Not sure if any of these will imply to your Oppo, but these are the one I have /had and rated for my own reference in video department. 1 is worst and 10 is best.

i can second the audioquest rec - i use some hdmi3's and they are the first hdmi cables that i've demoed that look as good as my component connections - though i didn't try the wireworlds that you mention and i had heard good things about them. in fact, they were next on my list to try if i hadn't been satisfied with the aq's.
for what it's worth, one thing that i find both on my cable box and my dvd player, though, is that (unlike the component connections), the hdmi connections made the picture look a little dark until replaced the stock power cord on the units. not sure why that is, but it was noticeable in my systems.
good luck! |
hi guys, thanks for your responses. any thoughts on wireworld starlight 5.2 and silver starlight 5.2 rgds |
Use Bluejean cables new bonded pair cables. Belden cable stock is used and they have just set a performance record for longest cable that can transfer a signal. It the best tech. going for HDMI cables. Lower prices as well. |
I would add the Audioquest line for your audition , I like the AQ better than the Monster. Have ot seen the Kimber , but they do make good products . I have a 67 inch DLP , and I would agree , differences are slight , mainly with depth of picture , to me personally that means alot. I have compared them to cheaper cables. Cheaper cables do a good job, but I can tell the difference . In general you want a touch of silver {silver coated copper is fine} , it gives the video signal more zip . Good Luck ! |
I have the new Oppo BDP-83. I used to have Monster Ultra 1000 HDMI, then Kimber HD19, and now Kimber HD29. The HD29 is the best of the three and also the most expensive. Frankly, although it is better than the others, but not by much. The noticeable differences to my eyes are mainly the depth of the picture which is more dimensional and the color more natural. |
