Grateful Dead MoFi 45RPM Vinyl Reissues

Anyone else enjoying the new mofi releases of Workingman's Dead and American Beauty as much as I am?
Really really nicely done.

Yes, I have them as well. Very nicely mastered. I did have to flatten a couple of the LPs with the Vinyl Flat and it took a couple plays to get them to quiet down a bit but they play very well now. I typically have these sorts of minor issues with records pressed at RTI, luckily nothing too severe. Still, I wish MoFi would find a different pressing plant.
Fremer's analog front end must suck because the
MFSL 33 1/3 of American Beauty is in my top 5
MFSL recordings. On my system it just sings...
Qdrone...have you heard the new MOFI 45RPM reissue? While I agree with you that the original MOFI 33 1/3 version is excellent, on my system, the new 45RPM is even better.

Just my .02 cents worth...and Fremer has an analog front end to die for, and he states that some might have a different opinion on the sound of the various versions.
No I haven't heard the 45 rpm of American Beauty but Fremer believes that an original pressing sounds better than the MFSL 33 1/3 version and the MFSL 45RPM version .
And....I have the original green label.....American Beauty is great...Workingman's.....not as good but better than later copies. I've never listen to later pressings but with care with the transfer I'm sure they are impressive.
When I said later pressings I meant I have heard later audiophile pressings. I had to search high and low for mi t green originals after suffering with poor later copies.
Sounds like fremer is splitting hairs...he openly admits if one has a decent copy of an original or reissue your "good to go." I have the Rhino CB mastered cuts...great sound, solid value. He actually preferred this over Mofi...At least on AB. I'm sure they all sound fine...it was immaculately recorded to begin with.
Bump-bump.... I've heard the MoFi 45rpm, the "CB" Rhino remaster, and an early press Green label. So far, the early press is king for even handed, involving, analog sound.
I have an original NM American Beauty and it is quite a listen, really good, don't have any reissues of it to compare but from my massive vinyl collection feel no need to attempt an upgrade from as I find the air and space like Mike Fremer did when the tapes were fresh and on other vintage LP's just in a realm of their own.I remember when I bought these 2 Dead Lp's when they first came out just blew me away.Still do an incredible close 50 years later.Do these Lp's ever hit me,just wonderful music and memories.
