I have owned a pair of Legacy Focus SE (2020 model year) and i currently own a pair of Santa Barbara Red T66. No, I didn't get rid of the Focus and replace them with the T66. I replaced the Focus with a Pair of Aeris XD.
Because the two speakers in question have been used in two different listening rooms, where one is highly optimized and treated with MANY acoustic panels and the other room is my untreated living room, it is a little unfair to take a bunch of whato think I can objectively rate each against the other, but regardless, I can say that the FOCUS (SE or XD) is a league or two above the T66.
First, the Focus is a BIG speaker with dual 7" midrange drivers, a much more substantial tweeter system, and dual 12" woofers. The sound is BIG, the soundstage is HUGE and when fed with dual Classe Delta Mono amplifiers, are capable of coming close to live music playback levels.
The T66 are very impressive speakers, especially for their size, and also capable of throwing up a soundstage that is taller and wider than one might expect. The T66 is more laid back, and the high frequencies are a little softer than the Focus. The Focus are by no means shrill or fatigue inducing, but they definitely are more detailed.
To be fair, the Focus were used in the treated room, the T66 in the living room, but I would expect that in the untreated room they would sound brighter than if they were in the treated room. I would also say that one would probably be able to extract more detail out of the T66 in the treated room, but I won't be carrying them upstairs to find out.
I am a bih fan of GoldenEar products as i have 2 pair of Triton Reference Towers that are used as surround and rear channels in the treated home theater room (Currently occupied by the Aeris XD)
I HAVE listened to the Triton Reference as main speakers in the treated home theater, and I will say that those come much closer to the Focus than the T66.
I probably left out a bunch of detail, but those are my observations.
Lastly, I will acknowledge that the top half of the T66 are currently powered by an old Denon Receiver, so that's not exactly helping them put their best foot forward, but soon there will be an NAD T66 and M33 combo to elevate their performance (hopefully).
Thanks,
Sean
