All things must pass, and few will be remembered. Not so Sir George. Rest in peace, George and John. |
When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom Let it be And in my hour of darkness She is standing right it front of me Speaking words of wisdom Let it be
Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let it be
And when the broken hearted people Living in the world agree There will be an answer Let it be For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see There will be an answer Let it be
Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be yeah, there will be an answer Let it be Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let it be
Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let it be
And when the night is cloudy There is still a light that shines on me Shine until tomorrow Let it be I wake up to the sound of music Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom Let it be
Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be There will be an answer Let it be Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be There will be an answer Let it be
Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let it be |
He seemed to enjoy the simple things in life - his family, music, flowers, his faith and peace. I enjoyed his presence in the world and will continue to enjoy his music. Thank you, George! |
I was born after the break-up of The Beatles but I have been a fan all of my life. I remember sitting at the kitchen table, eating my morning cereal and listening to radio when I heard the sad news about John, I was only 8 at the time. I still remember that day well. Now sadly to say another has passed away. Rest in peace George. :( |
I remember the first time I heard "all things must pass" in a record store in Erie Pa, I think I was about 12 or 13 years old at the time, it was 1973, I loved it and have never forgot that music.. also remember seeing Yellow Submarine on TV about the same time and it really blew my mind, for a 13 year old.. "My sweet Lord, krishna, krishna.." My Lord is Jesus, but none the less a great song, a great pop musician, it'll never be the same.. I better buy a copy of ATMP now before they go up.. |
I own 3 copies of All Things Must Pass, 2 CD compliations and the original Apple release on vinyl. Whenever I hear it, I get a very warm and mystical feeling. I don't think George ever took himself too seriously...go visit the www.allthingsmustpass.com website and you'll see what I mean. He really enjoyed and LIVED life. He was our friend.
Goodbye my friend. God Bless. |
Thank you, George, for all the music and helping us to view the world with a fresh new perspective. |
Im sure all guitars are weeping as those who play them. Here comes the sun that will shine brightly on this man and his music. Thank you George. I am sure your sweet Lord smiles favorably on you. |
We were talking- about the love that's gone so cold And the people- who gain the world and lose their soul They don't know- they can't see- are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself- then you may find peace of mind is waiting there. And the time will come when you see we're all one and life flows on within you and without you.
George was only 24 when he wrote those words. I think if I live until my 80's i'll rarely have ever read wiser words than his. God bless you George and thanks |
My brother used to play My Sweet Lord on his record player. Still today whenever I hear that song I am brought back to his bedroom like it was yesterday...That was 30 yrs ago. That's the power of music. Thanks, George. |
Oh My Sweet Lord. While I don't have a favorite Beatle I must say my favorite post Beatle album is indeed All Things Must Pass. Oh you, the quiet Beatle, have made my own mortality so real with your passing. Thanks for sharing. |
Tears today, & it just had to happen so close to John's assassination date too. Every year around this time was bad enough before this... What an awful day. Well just remember the good times; all the love & happiness that they gave to & shared with us all. Peace |
Hard to imagine that when I bought All Things Must Pass 30 years ago on cassette for my first boom box that his words would ring true. The Beatles were a major influence for me & we all were lucky to experience some of the magic while he was alive. Peace |
Among his great contributions was the introduction of "world music" to popular music. George not only played the sitar on the Beatles album Rubber Soul, but helped introduce Ravi Shankar to the world of rock and roll. His efforts to help the starving people of Bangladesh brought millions of dollars to the relief efforts by producing the first rock and roll benefit concert held in Madison Square Garden.
We will miss you, George. Rest in Peace. |
George and John will live forever in our hearts, minds and souls. My condolences to George's family and loved ones in their time of grieving. |
I've just discovered that I no longer have my old copy of All Things Must Pass. Anyone know if the LP set has been reissued on any heavy vinyl label? If not, any good CD remasterings that you know of? I must restock my collection immediately, as I have a craving to listen to these records this weekend. |
a remastered cd set with bonus tracks was relesed this past june. it's quite well done but not up to the original uk vinyl pressing. VH1 has been running some wonderful stuff on george since friday. -cfb |
Sc53 - HMV.com has a 3LP set released at the same time the remastered cd version came out - not sure if its heavy vinyl though... |
