Furutech FP-314Ag-II vs FP-S022N

Good morning.

Last year I replaced the old cheap cables in the digital player and amplifier:

1) In the digital player I put a Furutech FP-314Ag-II with custom connectors.

2) In the amplifier instead a wireworld Oasis 8.

The goal was to gain some depth in the low end and some detail.

When I mounted the wireworld Oasis 8 I did not notice any particular difference.

Note that a few months earlier an old acquaintance of mine brought me some DIY cables and we mounted them in the amplifier and there I noticed a consistent increase in the low end and also an improvement in general.

Having lost contact with that person I decided to opt for wireworld Oasis 8’s which hardly improved or changed anything.

Instead when I mounted the Furutech FP-314Ag-II in the player I noticed a good increase in the low end and also a slight improvement in detail.

At this point I was thinking of getting some Furutech FP-S022N with some custom terminals and replacing them with the wireworld Oasis 8 which did not improve anything.

I wanted to ask if you think I should replace the Wireworld Oasis 8s with the Furutech FP-S022Ns in the amplifier.

And also I wanted to know if in terms of timbre the FP-S022N cable has a more pronounced bass range than the FP-314Ag-II that I have in the digital player.

Thank you all !

Just arrived the FP-S032n, after a few short listening sessions I can conclude that the cable has improved the quality.

The difference is not huge, but noticeable.

First was add bit the bass, just a little.

I have listen a song where the high frequency are a little cut off and confusing.

While this cable was not significantly reduced the high frequencies I would say it cleaned them up.

My impression seem that this cable add a sort of "filter" that clear the high frequency without reduce in a particularly perceptible way.

Before trying this cable I was worried about the hypothesis that it might reduce the high frequencies, it didn't, it made the sound more natural as if there were previously some disturbances in the high frequencies which are now reduced and less perceptible.

I raccomand this cable for every systems becouise don't change timbral, it increases the low frequencies only very slightly.

FP-S032n is a nice power cord. I use it on my dac but tried it on the amplifier and it performed just fine.

After the break-in period, your power cord should be a good addition to your system. Please post your thoughts on your new power cord after the break-in time.

OP,

I'd definitely NOT use the FP-S022N on an amplifier, it's more of a signal component power cable. I'd use the FP-S032N Nano Au/Ag or the FP-TCS31 Triple-C if you like the Furutech sound (which I do). Both cables are 12 gauge, which is more appropriate for an amplifier IMO

Hi Marco,

I currently run an S032 with FI-15 rhodium connectors in my preamp (Adcom GFP-750), and I am consistently happy with it, especially with its performance in the lower registers. I think you’ll be happy with what you got.

Enjoy!

To be honest I have not consider a Furutech DPS-4, becouse my system is not expensive.

I have a simple Arcam A32 amplifier of 20 years ago and a Marantz NA8005 digital player that I have paid used in the past for 450 Euro.

Have you considered using the Furutech DPS-4 on your amplifier?

I would not use the FP-S022N on your amp because that cord is 14 gauge instead go with the DPS-4 or the so32N or so55N.

I would also say that the So22n cable is one of the cheaper cables. If you bought the 32n etc it would  give you more.

If you want to increase the bass range, put furutech rhodium connectors, [NCF if possible] on to So22n cable. I changed all my power cables and connectors to furutech. this cable takes a long time to bed in. {500 hours} I noticed that the bass sound was even more by then. Furutch silver connectors will help giving in the mids and highs.

Are we talking about power cords or interconnects regarding this question?

Is the Wire World Oasis 8 an interconnect?
