Faulty powered speaker - repair or trash?
I have a Kanto SYD 6 speaker that has been faithfully providing me with TV audio (via optical) and some music (via bluetooth) for about 7 years. It recently blew its fuse... when I replaced the fuse, it powers on, but every time I try to turn it on from standby mode it waits a few seconds then puts itself back into standby mode.
I've attached pics of the class D amplifier unit built into the speaker. I'd love some opinions on whether it is worth my while attempting to get this repaired. I also wonder whether there would be some way of attaching separate amplification to the drivers - if this amp is shot. The unit has two pairs of wires that lead to the speakers via spade terminals. They seem to come from different places on the control board, and interestingly, each pair of wires seems to lead to one mid driver and one tweeter (so there might be a crossover of some kind inside the box?)
Kanto have been totally unhelpful... the speaker is discontinued and they offer no parts, service or schematics.
