Thanks for the input. Initially I’d be using an amp made with the Purifi class D modules or a DIY version of Nelson Pass' First Watt F5 mono blocks, but the longer term goal is the Hegel H30a (or H30). It’s just a bit out of my price range right now (that’s putting it mildly).
Experience with Multiple Current and Recent Hegel Preamps
I'm considering purchasing a Hegel preamp and was hoping to get impressions that others might have with multiple Hegel preamps (i.e., P20, P30, P30a). I'll probably (more likely than not) be buying in the used market. The actual product purchased will depend on what is available and the cost. If there isn't much different between the P20 and the P30 or P30a, then I can go with the P20, especially if the price is right. However, if the P30 or P30a offers a noticeable refinement and detail over the P20, then I would try to hold out for one of those. I just want to see what others who have heard two or all three of these Hegel preamps have to say about them. So, what say you?
Thank you.
