Thoughtful question. It most likely depends on the amplification. If your amp is mid-level there won't be a huge difference. If the amp is higher spec and can deliver, than the better (quieter) volume attenuator in the P30A will be noticeable. My 2c
Experience with Multiple Current and Recent Hegel Preamps
I'm considering purchasing a Hegel preamp and was hoping to get impressions that others might have with multiple Hegel preamps (i.e., P20, P30, P30a). I'll probably (more likely than not) be buying in the used market. The actual product purchased will depend on what is available and the cost. If there isn't much different between the P20 and the P30 or P30a, then I can go with the P20, especially if the price is right. However, if the P30 or P30a offers a noticeable refinement and detail over the P20, then I would try to hold out for one of those. I just want to see what others who have heard two or all three of these Hegel preamps have to say about them. So, what say you?
Thank you.
