+1 @fastfreight
My laptop power is connected to a outlet which is not on the dedicated line. While using my laptop as the source, I simply unplug the power cord from the laptop and use it on battery power. I have changed the power option to "performance". The only reason for not connecting the laptop power supply to the Inakustik is I feel, it might introduce noise in the line. But I could be wrong.
@yunie_ , as fastfreight mentioned, you can use any port on the Inakustik to power the amp. You can experiment with the computer plugged in to the Inakustik and see if you prefer it that way. It is a conditioner, filter and surge protector. I love it for the musicality and the "clean musical experience" it provided in my system. Do let us know about your experience with the Inakustik.

@rareace, I agree with @dvdboulet on the power conditioner. While I do not have much experience with power conditioners (Brickwall was the only other one before this), I can say with confidence that this product literally transformed my listening experience. Why it works the way it works - I do not know. But it does and it mesmerizes me. Based on that experience alone I went ahead and decided to get the LS-2404 bi-wire speaker cables (Bob was insisting LS-1204, which are cheaper). "I am satisfied with these new cables", would be an understatement. You can read my mini review of that on this forum where I have detailed my experience about these cables. But I would say, even the speaker cables beat my existing cables and I think that difference would have been evident even without the power conditioner. My plan is to get the ICs to replace my existing ones. You can say, the Inakustik products (Referenz series) have gained my faith. |
@rareace,Why "unfortunate"? You made a decision - be happy and enjoy it. If you think your ears are not good enough to differentiate cables, that is fine. Life is not about what cables or components you purchase after reading reviews.
Just invest in more music and enjoy that.
As for which of the 2 Inakustik products made a bigger improvement - that is super difficult to answer because both upgrades made a significant improvement in my system. I started with the power conditioner and that raised the bar so high, it was like someone took a rug that was covering the speakers. With the cables the sound stage went from big to humongous, clarity improved even more and both ends of the sound spectrum opened up like never before. Hope this helps.
@rareace,That is something that Bob did not offer me. So good for you. I have no plans to change my existing receptacles. @ozzy ,You have so many components in your system. If you were to get a power conditioner, what components would go in it? Why don't you talk to Bob and see if he can let you try it in your system? If it does not improve anything you can simply return the unit. Honestly, I doubt you will do it - your system is high resolution and it should easily make out the difference.
@ozzy ,As rareace has mentioned above, you can ask Bob about the same deal :-)
@rareace,I checked the outlet that I use to power the conditioner as well as an outlet on the conditioner. They are showed correct polarity. I also use the upgraded 2502 cable, and based in the US.You should let Bob know about the issue and let us know how that got resolved. Good luck.
@rareace,You are welcome. Absolutely no intentions of upgrading anything at the moment. Last week I upgraded my Clear Day XLRs (2 pairs) to Inakustik NF-2404s. If I upgrade anything more, my wife will upgrade me as well :-) Took me more than 2 weeks to convince her why I wanted the XLR upgrade so badly.

@bacardi ,Good to let us know about the improvements that you are getting. Is that the standard Inakustik power cord that was re-terminated? If YES, then who did that for you and what was the price? For me a change like going from a mid-priced monitor loudspeaker to a expensive floor standing full-range would mean a "night and day". I experienced that when I moved from the diminutive, but still excellent Quad 21L to the ProAc D48R. Was the change with the Furutech plug really
that much? If yes, then I am a bit worried while considering this power conditioner - is it "altering" the source sound? I am also considering the the IsoTek Sigmas EVO3 which is similarly priced. The comparison link I provided above was between Inakustik and IsoTek's lower priced power conditioner, Aquarius. I wonder how the Inakustik would compare with the Sigmas.Thank You for sharing your experience with the Inakustik. Seems an interesting product.
@rareace,I am wondering - why would you open such an expensive unit (at least for my pay grade) when Bob offered to have the unit checked and pay shipping both ways? I would NEVER do that - especially when you had it for just a month. Hope you both have sorted it out.
@rareace,Good to know that you are getting a replacement. Do let us know how it all went through. Good luck. @hm1,Yes, this conditioner is something special.
Inakustik AC-3500p users - do you keep the power conditioner "on" the entire time OR do you switch it off/stand by after the listening session?
From a SQ perspective there wasn't much of any change to my ears. @rareace,You posted earlier that the unit was everything that the users on this forum had mentioned before. Wondering what happened now? The polarity on my unit is correct and I hear nice improvements. Also, how did you find about the polarity issue at a later date? I would have thought that you would have found that on day 1. Something like "in phase" and "out of phase" recording. Also, it looks like you have deleted the posts where you mention that you opened the unit. And this appears to be AFTER Bob asked you to send it back to him, with Bob paying the shipping both ways. I would never open even a cheap equipment which is so new and in warranty - especially if the dealer is ready to fix it free with shipping paid both ways. Let me shoot straight Alex - something does not add up here. I just hope that your polarity issue is fixed and things are fine. Sometimes when we email and communicate, things do not "seem" to others what we intend to say. This leads to miscommunication. I hope that this was a simple case of miscommunication between you and Bob. |
@tenchi,Did you not get a manual with the unit? What does that say? I have placed an order for this unit and it is expected sometimes next month. But really surprised that you had to come here to ask this. Either the documentation or the support on the product is bad. And that makes me worried, since I ordered and paid for one.
@tenchi,Good to know that they responded. So what are your thoughts about this conditioner? Any experience with other power conditioners? BTW, welcome to Audiogon!
Audiogon probably had problem with my wording and did not post the final comment from last night. So let me word it more appropriately:
THIS UNIT IS THE REAL DEAL.
I received the Inakustik AC-3500p power conditioner today. Slightly underwhelmed at the packaging because the box was plain jane brown (but very thick) box without any "Inakustik" marking on it. The box was in GREAT shape, considering that it traveled from Canada to the US. There was very good packaging inside to prevent damage to the unit while in-transit. The unit was wrapped in clear plastic. Also the manual was a thin leaflet manual. It is a clean looking SUBSTANTIAL unit - almost as big (but not heavy or deep) as the Parasound A21 amp. Still, you cannot miss this power conditioner. It is been an hour and I have put on a CD and left the room, for the system to warm up. I have been advised 24 hours minimum break-in. So when I go down to listen tonight, I expect no great shakes. Lets hope that this unit makes some difference in my system as it burns in.
Completed the first listening session with the new unit. Was expecting to be underwhelmed, since I was "left wondering" by a power conditioning demo at AXPONA 2017 and also the packaging of the unit - no fancy box, manuals, a generic power cord, etc.But let me leave this comment for now, more later, when I find time:
It's raining and thundering here and I don't want to take a chance on my equipment. So no listening today, which gives me some time to jot down my thoughts about this power conditioner.
One of the first things I noticed with this unit is that it produced deep and natural sounding instruments. The first CD I played with this unit in place was "Sultans Of Swings/Dire Straits" and the first song was "Sultans Of Swings". I have never heard this way the cymbals decay on my system. Their decay "lingers" on for some time and that sounds so natural. It is this naturalness that makes the sound stage go deep. I think this unit does a remarkable sound of cleaning up the power. And that could be the reason that the music comes out clean. It's like a much cleaner sound.
The second thing I noticed was the bass is now "tight". I could hear more definition in the bass. It was not flat or floppy. Initially I thought that I am loosing bass. But after a few minutes I realized that at much lower volumes, I could "feel" more with this unit, than without the unit in the system. The bass did not "cloud" the music. I don't know how to better explain this.
But the best thing I noticed was how this unit "locks down" the images in precise points in the space between the speakers. For this my go-to CD is the "Eric Clapton Unplugged". I love the "Tears in Heaven" and on this song, Eric is on the right of center. I tried to sway my head from right to left and the image stayed solid to the right. This is a very well recorded CD and the music was coming out of space between the speakers.
Now a few negatives about the package. The unit is very heavy for a "power conditioner". It came in a heavy box, and I was expecting another box inside, because the outer box did not have a "Inakustik" printed on it. The packaging material inside was good enough to handle the shipping. The power cord is super basic. It is like buying a Porsche 911 GT3 with a tire set worth $500 for all tires. I am planning of getting a Cullen Cables power cord for this.
I have about 30+ hours on the unit now with the music played only for 3-4 hours.
This unit has already impressed me.
I unplugged the unit this AM because of thunderstorms in the area. To be super honest - my plan was to check out the unit and if that did not work, I could sell it on Audiogon for the purchase price. I would at the most be out on the "shipping price" to the buyer, since I have not seen a single unit on sale. And now I understand why. I am looking forward for a burn-in of about 200+ hours and with a new power cord.
While many posters above praise the unit, I don't see anyone has posted their system with this unit. I will try to update my system with this unit over the weekend - if I have time after a fair amount of yard work and other activities, besides listening to audio.
And the original comment I had was "This is THE SH*T".
@wig ,There are a couple of power strips from Inakustik, but this is the only power conditioner. Sent you a PM.This is my first power conditioner. So I cannot provide any other comparisons, since I have none. But the "characteristics" that others have mentioned (gushed) seems right.
@wig,I feel it made a big difference in my system. So I would say, yes, it it a winner. I have added 2 pics of this unit in my system.
@wig ,Thank You for your kind words.I hope you get to try the Inakustik AC-3500p in your system. I have no doubt that it will enhance your excellent system.
@wig,This is awesome. I will DEFINITELY look forward to read your comments on this unit. Especially because you have experience with power conditioners before - I see the Shunyata Hydra and CPT 1200 in your system. You got me thinking into the 2502F power cord. Will look into it, since @bacardi also seems thrilled with it.
Well @wig, I am like a kindergartner when it comes to power conditioning. This is my first real serious power conditioning. I took a leap of faith, reading owner experiences here, online reviews and talking to Robert. You on the other hand are a college graduate. Hope my experience is still relevant in your system, especially after you have experienced so many power conditioners. As I said before; I will be eager to hear about your experience. Which of the above list of conditioners do you still own? Any comparisons will be fun to read.
@wig, Listening to Chris Jones Moonstruck album, and I am amazed by the musicality and clarity of the system. I wonder how the Inakustik power cord will improve on this. Ridiculous I say. BTW, I am burning in the power conditioner by running the dehumidifier off it, when I am not listening to the system. I believe, I have put about 100 hours on it. |
@rja , I have the black color. Check out the pics on my system page.
@ozzy , Yes, the internals doesn't look like much. Same thing cane be said when you compare a 1960 computer to a desktop today. But it is the results that matter. Honestly, this power conditioner is something special. If you go back and read my older posts, I was really doubting the claims that @bacardi and @tenchi made. But once I got this unit in my system, it was easy to understand why. I know you have the AQ Niagara 7000 that you tweaked. I am not sure, if you get this unit, you would have anything to tweak. Why not try one in your system? |
@rja , Do let us know what your experience was. Do you have a power conditioner currently? |
So this week, I ordered a couple of products from Herbies audiolab for my preamp. I ordered the Ultrasonic SS tube dampers and Tall Tender feet. The tube dampers were exactly as I ordered and I I am happy with them. But the tall feet were too tall for the preamp. So I decided to try them under the power conditioner. I had not realized that, with the power conditioner on a shelf (taken from the Salamander rack) sitting on the floor, it was experiencing vibrations from the loudspeakers. Teh tall Tender foot were the necessary remedy to take off those vibrations resulting in a tight bass and imaging.
@thoms, Reach out to user @worldwidewholesales, who is the NA dealer and ask him that question. He would have answers for you. |
I wish people would not respond on stuff they have not used before. And they continue to use the same rant year after year, on power conditioner threads.
@stringreen Your system is your problem not mine. No one can help if your system behaves differently than what they have. On my system, when I added Herbies Footers under 2 components, I was able to make out the difference in presentation. I know my system enough and don't need your validation. I was letting the forum members know about a review on the product. Read it if you like or move on.
@stringreen, You posted immediately after my post. There was no way for me to know that you were NOT commenting on my post. I sincerely apologize if your post was not directed to me. I agree that people should listen carefully. And in my system, this product did really "jaw dropping" changes. I was assuming that dedicated lines is an "end all be all" for audio system. This thing simply transformed my system for good. And when I put Herbies Tall Tender Footers under it, the imaging simply locked and focus became pretty tight. When I come across such a product, I am thrilled and would like to share that with fellow members here. I was super skeptical before purchasing this product. You can read my first response in this thread and you will know what I am saying. Regarding Herbies products - I have multiple sets of tender footers under different components. The last component I used the Herbies under, was the preamp. And that tightened the way the loudspeakers imaged the soundstage. I am glad that things worked for me. But understand that I do have a dedicated listening space, by God’s grace, and it makes a difference.
My next upgrade would be the spikes under the loudspeakers, with the Isoacoustic Gaia IIs. @jperry has similar loudspeakers and replacing the spikes with Nordost footers made a major difference in his system. I have demoed the Gaias at AXPONA and heard what they can do. If they don’t work, I can always return them in the trial period. Unfortunately this will not happen so soon.
@fiza, What conditioner do you currently own? Get both and return the one that did not work for you. |
@rja , I had a similar concern when I got this power conditioner and began using it. I had reached out to the dealer and he mentioned that the manual inside is a European manual and that statement does not apply to the US model. Yeah, I wish they had printed a manual specifically for the US model. |
@bugredmachine ,Welcome to the club. I see that you have 2 systems. Which one was the power conditioner for? Would definitely like to know what you think about the change in sound after introducing the unit in your system.
@dvdboulet, Why don't you reach out to Robert and check if something like this is going on now? Not sure if that was for BlackFriday or Christmas special price.
@dvdboulet,Looking forward to your detailed review, since you actually own the product and experienced it.
+1 @dvdboulet I had the same experience. The improvement in the system is so clear. No need to wait for a long time. But it does improve over a period of time.
