Electronic Crossovers

Definately get the Bryston. I had used the Nakamichi EC100 crossovers in series to triamplify some ARC 1A and 1B Magies in the past. The Bryston currently is without peer. Another option is to get GBW to build a two- or three-way amplifier system with the xovers built-in. This allows you to change slopes and shelving at will, and will give you the watts you need to properly drive the MGIII's.

I am using the Audio Control Richter Scale III. It is intended for sub/main crossover. It uses a Linkwitz-Riley 24 db/octave crossover circuit. The frequency is changed by changing a small plug-in capacitor. The unit comes with instructions for selecting the capacitance value. There is a bass frequency equalizer and warble tone generator and a calibrated bass microphone to set the frequincy response and level of the sub. I think that Audio Control has discontinued producing these, but several dealers had stock when I last checked. It cost less than $500 new, and I have seen them listed at about half that on the used classifieds.

Go to marchandelec.com (Marchand Electronics) and build easily one for 100$ to 1500$ built most-georgeous-24dB-all-tubes-variable-XOver-on-the-planet (or build it for ~900$, I think). ciao...
