Have you checked out any cable auctions lately? Everyone is selling >$1K cables for around $100-$150. Maybe ELCO's business model was so effective that they split up into several current companies. I won't name any to avoid the flame wars, just look through the auctions, you'll see ELCO's spirit is alive and well, even if the 'company' no longer is.
