Eagle John Iverson

I have a Eagle 7A that needs attention. Is John still around ?

I spoke with John Iverson within a few days of his disappearance - just two weeks after my conversation with him, the local dealer told me he was missing. I forget the year - late 80's or 1990 at the latest. As I recall, the U.S. had just signed the INF treaty with the Soviets, and John was pissed about that (I might be confusing an earlier conversation). Anyway, he was most pissed at the FBI for raiding his place and confiscating a project he was working on. Piecing together what he told me and what the local dealer said, it seems he had submitted a patent for a loudspeaker that the FBI believed used stolen "Star Wars" missle defense technology. I think he had essentially built a particle beam generator, and had developed it into a massless driver, perhaps reminiscent of the old Hill Plasmatronics. John had put over a year and a couple of hundred thousand dollars into the project, and was outraged that the FBI showed up after he filed for a patent and confiscated all his work and related files and documents. He basically said to me, "Why would I steal defense secrets and then try to file a patent? Who would be that stupid?" I don't know if this is connected to his disappearance, but I wouldn't be surprised. I keep hoping he'll show back up one day, fiery as ever, god-damning the government and the commies and everyone else and going back to building amps that you can literally weld with (he drove around the country with the prototype of the Eagle 2 in the backseat of his car, and part of his demo was to short the speaker leads together and hold them there while the copper sparked and melted). I think of him every time I turn an amplifier off - you could unplug the Eagle 2 and it would play for another 40 seconds. His disappearance is x-files stuff. And, I miss him.
John Iverson and Mitch Cotter both dissapeared. No one knows where they are today. I heard they both worked for the goverment on secret military designs.

I remember an article in Stereophile about Iverson's having disappeared--probably within the last few years, but time seems to go by too quickly for me, so you might check to see if it ever got in their on-line archives. I think the article mentioned someone who might do repairs on the Eagle amps, too. Sorry my memory is so hazy on this; if I find the article I'll post further.
The article on Iverson's disappearance appeared in TAS many years ago. And Jon Iverson of SP bears no resemblance to Jon Iverson of Eagle/ElectroResearch, etc. fame.
Marty, how the heck are you old buddy? Check your bifocals & above spelling: Jon writes for SP while John has been MIA for about one decade! Cheers. Jim
John Iverson has been writing for Stereophile, as of the last issue. By the way is that you the fireman Jim Romeyn living in CA?? If so, regards Marty in Phoenix
Jon Iverson (alive SP writer) is different person vs. John Iverson (apparently deceased irrascible highly entertaining vintage BMW R-90S riding one tough sum' bitch audio engineer). Contact eagle@blitz-it.net. I've got addressif necessary. Cheers-Jim Romeyn
I think this might help you. I tracked Rus down when I owned an Eagle 2a. Nice guy, worked for John Iverson. Does updates & repairs on all eagle amps. Hope this does the trick! eagle@sky.net
I believe Jon Iverson is, or was, writing for Stereophile -- clips on audio news. If he's not, email Stereophile for his whereabouts.
Someone used to run a classified in Stereophile (I think) about service for Eagle amps. Not in the current issue, but you might find it if you go back a bit.
