Do the Components Match?
Spent most of my stereo experience with a Rotel receiver, Ohm E speakers, and either a CD player or BSR McDonald table. A few years ago, I thought I would get into tubes, first with a Jolida FX-10 and then stepping up to an Eastern Electric. Speakers went from the Ohms to B&W 658s with two SVS subs and then Tekton Lore References with one sub.
However, our listening habits went from sitting and flipping vinyl to digital streaming as my wife and I enjoy an adult beverage while I play DJ using Spotify. Now our system is a Schiit Ragnarok+ using an Audioengine Bluetooth receiver running through a Parasound DAC. On rare occasions we use our Pro-Ject table.
After these changes, we still retain the Tekton speakers and single SVS sub. From what I gather the Tektons are more aligned with an analog system and sound a bit lifeless (not much presence) with the digital equipment. We are wondering whether we are missing out by using these speakers and whether there is something a bit more compatible with our electronics.
