Do speaker enclosures need furniture polish or oil?

I've used Howards and Old English on some speakers in the past, but most speakers nowadays appear to have some sort of coating on them which I would think negates the need for oil.

Your thoughts?

Yes they use a cheaper spray on finish. It seals the wood, oil won't get to the wood. But Oil polishes like Old English still are fine, it all depends on the look you prefer. If you like the OE gloss then use it. Just be aware it won't soak in but will need to be buffed off with a clean dry cloth.
