Do speaker enclosures need furniture polish or oil?

Yes they use a cheaper spray on finish. It seals the wood, oil won't get to the wood. But Oil polishes like Old English still are fine, it all depends on the look you prefer. If you like the OE gloss then use it. Just be aware it won't soak in but will need to be buffed off with a clean dry cloth.

Unfinished wood, or sealed wood loves oil. High gloss finish over wood likes wax, Polly finish likes clear hard wax and a touch up with the OLD pledge, pure liquid wax, just not a hard bee's wax..Unless the manufacturer recommends something different..A few like silicone base wax for the pollies..

Keep out of the sun, keep the dust off. 

Slightly moist soft touch or microfiber that's CLEAN. Gently wipe  down the cabinets, 

You can use too much oil on veneers (over whatever) and soften the bonding agent..Usually takes a LOT of OIL..

Cabinet making, wood working, one of my passions. The trick is the finish...taking care is easy.. After a good color (option) and finish.

I have Boxes that are 45 years old..Still amazing finishes on most..Oak, Walnut, Rosewood, Apitong/Birch...

A few that are pollies (dipped) and one is an automotive acrylic lacquer finish over HDF

A lot of folks don't know the old pledge is just good ol wax, just don't spray it on dryer wood (oil first, then wax).  My kids were gonna do me a favor 35 years ago.

The Ss are still in the back of my just, finished, three year in the making  1/4 cut oak, rolltop desk..
 
Wouldn't change it for the world.. Just glad its in back.. little buggers.

Works on cars too after a good hard wax, bees wax is the best hard wax,
then pledge to keep it up..
