Denon 47f vs. Technics 1700

Can anybody tell me which turntable is likely to be better in terms of sound quality? (assuming both are in good condition.)

Thank you!

I’m assuming the Technics is the SL 1700 model from the mid/late 70s which had the auto shut off or auto return feature?  If so, I would try to hear an A/B demo with the Denon before committing but probably no deal breaker if that’s not an option.  I’ve had an SL 1800 (the fully manual version of the 1700) since 1977 and it still plays 33 rpm well enough for digitizing rough-but-rare albums.  It’s always been somewhat of a “Plain Jane” soundwise, even when I had an ADC ZLM cartridge on it many years ago.  Darn near indestructible though.  I’d be really curious to try the Denon if I were deciding between these two.
Is the 1700 a MK1 or MK2? They are different animals. The Denon DP-47F has a low mass tonearm with Q-damping.
