Check out Live Vibe website. My experience with their products has been revelatory.
Decoupling, isolation…turntables, speakers…spikes, isolation bases what works?
Ok, seems discussions on speaker and audio component spikes/discs, isolation platforms abound…but my questions are WHEN to use speaker, audio component spikes, cones with receiving discs, sorbothane feet, isolation bases (thick wood, granite/marble), MNPC TECH feet, vibration absorbers from TEKNA Sonic and Microscan, etc…
and does one isolation method become counterintuitive to another?….when is it too much, or does it even matter?
Any and all objective feedback is welcomed!
Some observations: sand filled speaker stands, with speakers sitting on a platform with cone feet into discs have given my Mini Monitors noticeable better definition, clarity, maybe even a tad better defined bass from small woofers. Same with OM10’s on speaker spikes on a rug floor (off the dollys)
Tube amp on thin marble bass…I cannot perceive a noticeable audio difference, but conceivably it may help tube resonance?
Just Installed a DIY ASH wood 3”+ wood isolation base under my TT…some music genres seem more shouty on the OM10’s ( Yes: Close to the Edge), yet Jazz, Chopin, Schubert softer passages seem well defined. Maybe I just need a month or two getting used to it, I have readjusted my EQ, with some improvement. Kinda wondering if I need spikes UNDER the wood block and/or the turntable? TT has OEM feet now.
Current vinyl system:
Bonus room, hip ceiling, alcoves, dormer, stairs, stair waist high wall, wall to wall new rug…yeah acoustically challenged room for sure, but I did have it dialed in with speaker placement, sweet spot, and EQ .
TT: DENON DP52-f, cart: DENON DL-110, mounted on DIY ASH wood 3” thick base I made as an isolation base, floor mounted, 1300lb capacity adjustable furniture feet, screwed securely into the wood slab
AMP: YAQIN MC100B dual monoblock tube amp, sits on 1/2 marble slab on the floor….currently building an Ash slab isolation base also for the tube amp
phono stage: Lehmann Black Cube
Speakers: PARADIGM MINI MONITORS V1, on DIY sand filled stands, MIRAGE OM10 towers with speaker spikes and discs (newly hooked ….temporarily on caster mini diy mover Dollys to find best room position, currently a work in progress)
