Deal Fellow REL Owners

I have a REL R-328. I had an extended back and forth with REL about power cords and they told me that they had done extensive testing and had *not* found that after market power cords made a difference. I did a bunch of comparisons between the stock cord and a 9 awg Pangea cord and could not hear any difference at all. That's all I know, but it was enough to stop my search for PC's for REL.

@hilde45 Thank you. Helps validate my thoughts. It's possible the Anticables L2 are overkill. How long ago did you reach out to REL? I may contact them as well.

I’m running a pair of old G2s now with van den Hul Mainsstreams. When I had the single G2 I tried several different power cords. I started out with AQ Tornado source and high current cables as replacements for the free cords that came with the equipment. I ended up trying a Shunyata snake something something, Zavfino Silver Dart and Majestic 2, DH Labs Red whatever, Signal Cables, and Acoustic Zen, the middle one not the Gargantua. The power through the vdHs gives me deeper, cleaner bass than all the others. Signal Cables were second. Majestic 2 worked better than Silver Dart. Acoustic Zen, Silver Dart, Shunyata, and DH Labs all bordered on useless. Yes, I moved them around and gave them all a good listen.

Special mention to Acoustic Zen for ignoring my requests for a return.

I use Signal Cable on my REL Subs. And all my equipment.

You've got some nice gear.

Arguably, nothing from the speakon cable too. Naturally-YMMV. The best thing to invest in is time for setup/placement.

Looks like you've done that. Pricey cable for your setup is simply-"just because."

@dalims4 Thank you for your the synopsis of your findings. You and @jerryg123 mention Signal Cable and they seem reasonably priced. Which Signal Cable did you have that was second to the vdHs? I checked vdHs' website and do not see PCs?

@tablejockey Thank you. I really sounds amazing and does everything I had hoped, which is also why I need to match or best what I had with the old PS Audio PCs. I am dreading a step back in some way while hoping for an improvement.

The Signal Cable is the Magic Power Cord.

While you’re shopping, the Signal Cables Speakon cable is a good upgrade.

@dalims4 Thank you. Already went with Kimber Kable REL CU and I’m very happy with them and have to give a shout out to Kimber. Their customer service is outstanding.

I’m embarrassed that I missed the vdHs PCs. I was looking for finished cables by type, not bare cable. I had been groomed by the dozens of other manufacturer’s sites having finished product by category.

I use a Signal Cable Magic Power Cord and I use their Speakon cable to connect my REL S5 to my amp.  This has worked well for me.  All my other power cords in my system are Triode Wire Labs.
