Dear DC Area Audiophiles,
I hope you all had a great holiday season. Sorry for the delay in setting up the next meeting. However, the wait will definitely be worthwhile.
I would like to schedule the next club meeting for February 23rd. Vinh Vu from Norvinz will be the presenter. Vin will be demonstrating products from Sanders Sound Systems, Merrill-Sciliia Research, and Ginkgo audio. The format of the meeting will be one hour demonstrating the Sanders amp and preamp and the exciting new Merrill-Sciliia Researchs MS2 turntable. If we can get enough attendees, Vihn will also bring down a working prototype of the Sanders new electrostatic hybrid speakers. This will be a new smaller version of the model shown at CES. Thus, I encourage all of you who can attend the meeting, to please do so. To get a headcount, please RSVP to me as soon as possible if you plan to attend. Please send me an email so that I can put you on the club list and send you any necessary updates.
After the Sanders demonstrations, there will be a break. Following the break, Vinh will perform a demonstration of the ginkgo audio vibration products. This should be very educational for anyone interested in isolating their gear.
If people want to bring snacks to share at the break, that would be great.
The time and date: 4 p.m. on the Feb. 23rd. Again, please RSVP as soon as you can so that we can convince Vinh to bring down the new speakers. Personally, I am dying to hear them.

How did the meeting on 11-17 go?? I was very interested in showing up, but got shanghai'd at the last minute that very day and could not come and introduce myself.

November 2007 Meeting News
The next DC Audio Club meeting is now scheduled for Saturday November 16th at 4 pm at Command Performance AV (7105 Marbury Court in Falls Church, VA 22046, www.commandav.com). There are two topics for this meeting:
1) Tom Burton will be bringing over the new Blue Circle DAC. There has been a lot of buzz about this DAC, so this should be an interesting demonstration. Bring your favorite CDs.
2) Trip reports from RMAF. We welcome anyone who went to RMAF and wants to show photos and / or talk about what they liked / disliked at the show. We can display pictures on the plasma in the meeting room. |
I want to pass on a very big thank you to Jim for hosting the first meeting of what many of us hope is the beginning of an enthusiastic audio club in the Washington DC Metro area.
A big thank you also goes out to Rusty for his demonstration of the Usher speaker line.

An update to the meeting. I was asked if only the Usher Tiny Dancers were being demoed at the meeting. The answer is no...other options available for demo are the following...S-520, V-601, V-604, X-719, CP-6381, BE-10. If any one has a preference, please let me know.

Looks like we have enough people interested in having a meeting. Command Performance AV will host the first meeting on Saturday, September 22nd. We are a home-based dealer located at 7105 Marbury Court in Falls Church, VA 22046. Our phone number is 703-532-7239. Some have asked about Metro access. Command Performance is a couple miles from the East Falls Church metro. It is a short cab ride from there. Also, the #2 bus drops off near the bottom of our street (Lee Highway and Graham Road). We will also try to arrange rides from the East Falls Church Metro Station. If you plan to take the Metro and would like a lift, please email me at jeff@commandav.com and I will try to arrange for a pickup.
First meeting topic: There has been a lot of talk about the Usher Tiny Dancer (Be-718) speakers, so we will have the Usher Audio rep demonstrated the Tiny Dancer, as well as other Usher Audio models. Please feel free to bring some CDs. Command Performance will have a BBQ (burgers, dogs, sodas, and such) prior to the meeting for all of those who like to listen on a full stomach. At that meeting, it would be good if we can plan out the next couple of meetings (dates, topics, and locations).
The meeting will be at 7:00 pm. Cookout starts at 5 pm.
