dbx 10/20 cap issue?

I'm getting ready to put this unit back into service. So I decided I would take the cover off and look around inside to see if I could see any visible issues. So around the base of the big blue cap there is some weird looking stuff in the glue,.. see pic, any idea what that is, is it a problem?
I don't think the lid has ever been off this thing, it was sealed with some kinda tape... It's never been re-capped I'm pretty sure

Well I don't see how to add pics?

Hey,

So glue on large caps is normal. You can’t tell it’s glue cause it’s pretty solid or rubbery. Even if it’s started to get flakey and brittle, it’s fine unless you are taking your gear on the road.

If it is viscous it’s probably the electrolyte and the cap needs proper removal, the board needs to be cleaned and new caps replaced.

If it's brown and around solder pads it's probably flux which wasn't cleaned off well enough after assembly.

Also, any bulging on a cap is a clear sign it needs to be removed.

Best,

Erik
