DACs in the Peachtree Nova 150 vs WiiM Ultra

I recently bought the Peachtree Nova 150 and have a WiiM Ultra.  Not anywhere close to an expert here, so wondering the following:

Would the DAC in the "brand new" WiiM Ultra (ES9038Q2M) perform/sound better than the much older one in the Peachtree Nova 150 (ES9018K2M SABRE32 Reference)?

Thanks!!

I owned the PeachTree Nova 150 for a few years. I did a few tests with it by isolating the preamp and the amps sections. The preamp section was terrible, and the amp section was OK. The newer Peachtree amps GAN amps were a better than the OK amp part of the NOVA.

Since the DAC section of the NOVA is tied to the preamp section, it is not going to be that good.

Take a look at the preamps, DACs, and amps from Schitt Audio that are a lot better than Peachtree.

The WiiM is great sounding for the price (I have one)...but it's not a great DAC in there...

I don’t know how to say this without someone coming unglued. Even the noob that I am was able to see this person is early in their journey. If they decide to continue with their journey, it will become obvious to them as a travel along, what they have. To nip it in the bud, with Negativity is one sure way to get them to quit. Once again, I really don’t mean to ruffle feathers it just mine got a little ruffled when I was reading your comments, sorry.

Maybe I may dissuade someone for doing anything with my comment. I was in the same boat not too long ago. I wish I had listened to some advice to look at Schitt Audio when stating out as I stated above.

Last night, I did a complex audio setup, and I needed a preamp. I remembered that I had a Schitt JR headphone amp in a box somewhere. Schitt stopped making this unit was getting rid of stock for about $250 last year.

I took this amp out of the box and hooked it up to a ROON endpoint that was using a Convolution filter made for a specific headphone (a complicated setup). I ended up using the preamp section of this unit and not the amp end. I hooked it up to the Schitt Aegir v1 amp ($450 used). This thing sounded so good that I put up my $7000 tube headphone amp that serves the same purpose up for sale yesterday.

I am not starting out my audio builds but finishing my builds. I am selling a lot of expensive ger to ’downsize’ with the Schitt gear I am recommending for people who are just starting out.
