Quick update. Decided to go with a pair of REL Specials as their neutrik connectivity gets me working without the need for additional equipment. Thank you all for your responses.
Connecting 2 JL Audio F112v2 subwoofers to a Luxman C-10x and M-10x combo
Hi folks, hopefully someone can help before I purchase the subwoofers.
From what I can tell it’s not possible to add subwoofers to my amp combination. I use balanced connection between the two amps and they both only seem to output/input in one mode at a time.
Has anyone got any experience connecting subwoofers to this amp combination?
@rick_n thank you. I'll have a read of the bi-amp path |
I believe that the Pre needs to be put into Bi-Amp mode to activate both pairs of outputs. I would look into this as a solution. One pair of the outputs will feed the amps and one will feed the subs. I have the 112V2s as a pair. I am running them in "stereo" from my pre, with a L output into one sub and the R output into the other. I have not slaved them with one sub feeding the signal to the other. The advantage of using my "stereo" setup is that each one can be tuned and DAROed independently and this helps reduce nulls. I believe that the slave mode is designed for applications of > two subwoofers where DSPing more than 2 subs dilutes the results because there is so much more sub coverage. Good luck and cheers. |
Ah I see. Then a DSP Bass Management tool is what you need @sdavada and then get more or less "dumb" subwoofers so you let the DSP tool do all the crossover, phase dialing stuff |
Thanks @kofibaffour. From what I’ve read, the pre will only let me use xlr or rca output one at a time. |
can you not output XLR from the Preamp into the power amp and at the same time output from the RCA outs on the Preamp into the first subwoofer and then chain that to the other sub. Once the setup above is done, use the crossover, phase, and level controls on your JL Audio F112v2 subwoofers to integrate them with your main speakers. you can verify this with JL Audio though |
