I’m not sure exactly as I haven’t listened to enough Hifi equipment to understand sound characteristics well, but I am basically looking for something easy going and balanced, a lively/realistic sound isn’t as important to me, I’d mostly like something I can listen to for 4 or 5 hours at a time, or even a whole day, without feeling fatigued or overwhelmed like I’ve been at an actual concert. Loud bass is not important to me and honestly even kind of a hindrance. I’ve considered tube amps but I think I’d like to go solid state with my first amp.
Choosing an amp for Totem Sttafs
Hi everyone, I recently bought my first nice pair of speakers, and now I need to upgrade my amp. I have an Oppo HA-1 which has a pre out so I plan on using that as a preamp, so I am looking for a power amp, not an integrated. I am trying to keep the price under $1k but can probably go as high as $1.5k, preferably second hand to try to get a deal. I am currently considering a pair of Musical Fidelity M1pwr amps, a Rega Maia, or a Rotel RB-1552, all three of which are currently available second hand online for $800. By the way, I tend to be a fairly soft listener and don’t really crank it very often if that weighs in at all, and I listen mostly to jazz/fusion/noise rock stuff. Any input on these three or alternate recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
