Cartridge recommendations for Thorens BTD 12s arm???

Some people like the Koetsu more than the Denon 103. But Koetsu MC’s are about 7X more expensive than the Denon 103. That’s a big difference in price! A more affordable mc cartridge is the Hana SL at $750. I would choose that over a $2-3K Koetsu. In the end, a cartridge's sound quality is completely subjective.

An Ortofon Anna would work great. This model is going to be discontinued so you might be able to pick one up on the sly.

@jasonbourne52 Thanks, very true that Koetsu is expensive, but the reason for consideration is it seems ,in theory, to meet the criteria for use with a heavier arm like the Thorens. Most cartridges( including the Hana,i think ) are designed for the more common light to medium arm. The Denon does a great job and on my table and a large part of that comes from the fact that it's design comes from the time when heavier arms were the norm. I was just curious if there were other, hopefully less expensive options that would achieve the same kind of synergy.

@mijostyn  Thanks, I am sure that the Anna is amazing and thanks for the tip about it being discontinued, but even with the best deal imaginable ,it will probably be out of my price range.

Your arm is at lower side of high mass so many cartridges to play. 

Have you considered any of Ortofon SPU's?

You can also consider Zyx Bloom 3 the their entry model but still great.

I have no personal experience with the arm in question, but it seems that people have had good results with Decca’s. Since Decca’s don't play nice with a lot of arms this *might* be an opportunity....

@petg60  Thanks, Those are both great suggestions. I have a friend who is an Ortofon dealer, I will inquire. Have you used the Bloom personally? Have been curious about it as well.

@solypsa Thanks ,the Decca's were on my radar, but would kinda like to hear one first. Also wondered about possibilities when one would have to retip on those.

Not the Bloom, but i have heard it many times, i find it a real gem.

Currently i am using a 4D Ultimate, and before that a Yatra II.

@petg60  With SPU cartridges,how would I use it with my arm as the Thorens BTD12s has a unique pin plug designed before the "universal" mount?

I believe with a Naked SPU, but I suppose you would need the adaptor also.
