Can Piega P10's Be Placed Up Against The Wall?

Hello-
I have a large, difficult room (20x22x20) with no options for speaker placement. The media wall also serves as a walk-way to another room, so pulling them out is not an option. I've heard the P10's have good bass & I need a speaker that can pressurize a room. Amplification is Classe CA-401. Can I get away with putting the Piega P10's up against the wall?
Thanks

My placement ended up being about 26 inches from the side wall and 23 from the rear wall. They still sounded very nice even in this small a room and I got depth and imaging. However I was sitting relatively near field in this case. You can cover the Rear tweeter if you are planning on placing it close to a rear wall. I used a tube amp which was a bit light on bass and put rolled up foam bed mattress cover in the two corners of my room where the rear ported bass would have been firing. This solved the slight bass issue I'd had. Try for at least 23" from back wall.

They do better of course in a larger room : ) But I have a feeling that I could have done very well with them in a 13" x 16 " room.
I currently own these speakers and a lot of what has been represented is a bunch of crap.

Just wanted to make sure I had your attention. Actually, much of what folks say is right on the money.

Personally, I would not set the speakers less than 1.5 feet from any wall, and preferably 2.5 feet for the best sound.
I owned the p-10 and my room is 24x30x12 cathedral. The best placement was 8 ft from back wall and 5 feet from sides. I sat 9 feet away for optimum sound. Excellent speaker but lacked the bass I was looking for. Probably to small of speaker
George, I've owned these speakers.

A great pair of speakers IF and ONLY IF you have the room for them. 3 or four feet away from every wall at a MINIMUM (preferably more) or you're wasting your time/money with these speakers. Otherwise bass will be boomy, dynamics will be compressed, soundstage will be flat, and imaging will suffer.
George, don't get too excited. 9" minimum? I don't know about that, though my good friend Diane goes with an 8 inch minimum. warren :-)
I have a pair of NHT3.3 these were designed to be against the front wall. I have them set with 6 inches between the wall and back of speaker.I considered getting a pair of P10 about a year ago. I emailed the MFG. and if I remember they said 9 inches would be a minimum.Call the importer or email the MFG
There are a few speakers designed for wall or corner placement. Klipschhorns come to mine, but are not my cup of tea even though I have an SET amp. But, after years of speakers that go way out in the room I now own the Audio Note AN E speakers. I have the 8k dollar version, sorry I forget all the numbes and I think they have all new numbers now. They reall sound best in the corners but sound very good up against the rear wall. I have reviewed these speaks on and Audio Asylum and I think here as well.
I agree with the two previous posts; a corollary might be that the better the speaker, the better the soundstage, imaging and depth you can get out of it by placing it away from boundaries. And since they are designed to be away from walls, the bass from the P10s would probably be overwhelming when close to a wall.
I do not know of any speaker that does better against the rear wall. Sure you can place them there, but why spend that kind of money for killer speakers if you're starting off behind the eightball? IMHO...warren :-)
Most any quality speaker will NOT perform well against a wall. Might as well go the "Bose" route if this is your only option. I suggest a different room for you listening pleasure.

Hi, I have a pair of P10s. The owners manual states they need to be at least 51" or 53" (I'd have to look to be sure) from the corners. I don't believe the says anything about the back walls. The the front of mine are approx. 60" from the back wall. The depth of sound stage is incredible and the bass is good. The bass would be better (probably) closer to the walls. It's a trade off for sound stage. For you to put them against the wall IMO would "over do" the bass and not allow these wonderful speakers to image, etc. correctly. It might be worth doing whatever you need to do to move them in and out with your listening times!?
