Buddy Holly and Elvis on SACD

Just in case anyone is interested, the only known recording of some Elvis and Buddy Holly (several songs) on SACD is on a 2-disc German import called Rock 'N Roll Memories (just search for it on the web). It's EXPENSIVE, but sounds extraordinary.
I have it and, well, to me it's worth every penny. They come to life with nuance that is stunning and revelatory.
(And what a shame, disgrace actually, that, say, the Beatles are not available on SACD.)

Not to worry. They would probably over compress the SACDs just like they do most recent CDs and even some SACDs.

The quality of the Elvis late 50's-early 60's recordings is surprisingly good. Almost as good as the Roy Orbison, and both have been written about by Michael Fremer. Another act from that era recorded in great sound is The Everly Brothers. Great music in great sound.
There is a Buddy Holly multi disc set in the 8 classic albums cd series that I bought and have since developed a much greater appreciation of everything Holly did musically in such a short time.   Audiophiles with good systems interested in pop rock music of that period will find it most enjoyable I think.
"Most of his better mono material from the sixties is the best elvis i have heard on recordings. "

Whoops, mistake there. I meant to say "fifties", not sixties".
Rg,

I have the complete elvis 50s and 60s box sets. Not the third with his movie songs. The sound quaiity varies of course as would be expected with such wide ranging collections but ranges from very good + in many cases to just so so, i would say. Most of his better mono material from the sixties is the best elvis i have heard on recordings.
I have the DCC double LP of Elvis - there is a lot going on in Elvis' early stuff that a hi-rez system will show, to the point where I, as a middling Elvis fan, could finally see what all of the fuss was about.

I have two Buddy Holly compilations on CD, one of which is on Rhino, that are very enjoyable, but nothing worth mentioning for sonics.
Thanks mapman, any leads on CDs for late 50s/60s remasters would be welcome if you could post them.
By the way, I saw your systme and I also have a pair of Ohms on a separate system (Walsh 4s) that have been serving me well since 1985.
Thanks again.
I have a lot of Elvis and some BH stuff remastered on CD from the 50's and early 60's that sound absolutely fabulous with a lot of attributes that lovers of old recordings on vinyl even might appreciate.

Really, once I got my system tuned in, the quality of these recordings, particularly many of the older Elvis mono tracks, are really quite a treat for the ears!
