I had my Modulus 3, 3A and 3B connected to a Classe amp which was good and later to a Odyssey Stratos amp which seemed to be a most perfect match for the preamp. It was a dead quiet system with excellent dynamics.
Bryston 3b3 or Cary SA-200.2
Now that Audible Illusion is in orde< Ineed an ss amp. Some brands are willing to take my Cronus Magnum in trade in. Their best choices are Bryston 3B3 or the Cary SA 200.2. Otherwise if I sell my Rogue in Audiogon, I could get a tad more. My budget is no more than 3k for the amp. My speakers are Vandys 2CE. My room is 12x 24 and music choices are Classic rock, jazz and blues. Any suggestions is appreciated.

I have a 4B3, and I think it's a lovely amp. Presumably the 3B3 is similar. Just as the 3B3 is the little brother of the highly rated 4B3, the Audio by Van Alstine Fet Valve 400R is the little brother of the 600R, which has gotten great reviews. It's priced at $2900 (with the more attractive silver panel and integral DC blocker to kill any transformer hum). The AVA gear offers outstanding value for the money. |
