If you're a LED Head with a $200K+ rig, why not? Of course, that's just table/cart/phonostage! I have the RL Monarch press Thought $20 bucks was a ridiculous price about 15 years ago? If I were rolling in dough, I'd have the Studer and tape.

@tablejockey I agree with you. My only thought is that the RL pressing is somewhat legendary as is Zep, themselves. Maybe it's the historic value. But then I think about how obscure this might be in 30 yrs. Then too, collectors are a breed which I don't understand. But I am a player not a collector. I'm pretty sure I had this when it first came out but wore the thing out. I was a Zep fanatic. Hey, I'll give you $40 for that RL Monarch press. Double your $$$ on it!! |
artemus_5 Yeah, it's the RL thing that makes it special. Kinda like a real Mickey Mantle signed baseball. They are out there, in various degrees of ruin from being stacked and played on the BSR all in one rigs from the 70's! Sane to INSANE pricing, like the Classic 45 RPM Zeppelin. That was one of those lucky finds during one of my work travels thru a city I was in. It's actually unusual for it to even be found here-on the West Coast? This is an East Coast NY press. I bet there's a story if it could talk! Old Zep friends and I enjoyed it the other night because of this thread-thanks! The mighty Zep and the rest aren't played much these days. I too, am in it for the listening, not collecting. My insistence on period press and no R.I.'s is the LP disciple in me. Dirty/dusty record bins is where I go. These days are Classical, straight ahead Jazz, Blues and old obscure weird music at low/mid volume. We did blast "Whole Lotta Love" for a brief moment. Your table setup is cool. I'm a fan of beautiful, finished wood anything. |
