Blinded By The Light...The Movie

Just got done watching "Blinded By The Light". What a wonderful flick. Not only does it have music by "The Boss", but the story was very well done. It’s based on a true story and the book "Greetings from Bury Park: A Memoir.

Heartfelt, genuine, thought provoking. And the music..well, it’s Bruce Springsteen after all.

See it, if you get a chance.

Highly recommended!

Yeah. Saw it myself just the other night.

The story is about a kid growing up Pakistani in England, and its true, but let me tell you....

I was a WSU freshman in 1976 living in Rogers Hall and together with my roommate had the best stereo this side of campus. There was this one guy Marshall who was the world’s biggest nerd. Seriously.

Until one day this Marshall who never showed any interest in music is just knocking on my door and begging me to put this record on. Which I never heard of and could only think, coming from Marshall.....

So imagine, never even heard of Springsteen, here I am playing Born to Run for the first time, rocking it out, while this milk toast nerd is going crazy singing lyrics until finally at the end he’s screaming "oohhhoh ohhhh -oh ohhhhh uh uh uh ohhhh" with freaking tears streaming down his face.

I am not making this up. Freaking tears streaming down his face.

Which I guess is why I maybe had the same problem a few times watching this movie. Highly recommended, for sure.
I watched the movie last night.  Enjoyed it. Motivated me to play a couple of Bruce’s older albums afterwards😀.
I had a guy who worked for me who liked to tell the story of how he kicked BS out of his house. His room mate knew BS and allowed him to practice in the basement. Joe had get up early the next morning and BS was practicing late. Joe was a straight shooter so I have little doubt that he did it. Oh well. Makes a good story.
Love this movie, and the book is great too. As an Indian kid growing up in the U.K. around the same time, then moving to the US and becoming a huge Springsteen fan, I really related to this story.
