best way to connect two subwoofers

I am considering adding a second sub-woofer to my system ...Mac power & Focal Scala Utopia speakers ... my debate is do I connect the right output channel from my amp to the right sub and the left to the left or do I split the signal and connect both channels to both subs ...I now have both right and left channels connected to my one SVS SB4000 sub.
