Best step-up between a Kondo M7 and a Lyra Skala

How about the Verion P transformer? I had one for years and then stupidly sold it when I needed some fast cash! I used it with a GAS Sleeping Beauty Super Elliptical. Excellent match into a Precision Fidelity C7 cascode-tube phono stage! 

Later after Verion failed, Mitchell Cotter marketed those SUTs under his own name. Along with a unique phono stage called the PSC (Phono Signal Conditioner). 

So I can recommend either the Verion or Cotter SUTs. Plus they look really cool in those heavy blue enclosures with the attached Verion Triaxial cables!

I presently have: a Bellari, a Denon. a Mike Sanders Quicksilver and two custom-made SUTs using Altec mike transformers. Oh, and a pair of the small Sony plug-in SUTs! Iron rules in my LP playback kingdom!

Don't forget the SUTs made by Fidelity Research!

I have been using a vintage step-up (UTC A11) between my preamp Kondo M7 and my cartridge Lyra Skala. The match was really good.
Or any other combination that match well (the UTC transfo are not easy to get in Europe ...!)

How was the the A11 wired? The A11 supports 50Ohm, 200Ohm and 500Ohm primary impedance, so to make a useful recommendation it would be necessary to know which of these you were listening to and found to be such a good match.

The Skala has an internal impedance of 5.5Ohm, so I would assume it was either the 50Ohm or 200Ohm taps, but that’s no substitute for knowing for sure.

The Verion/Cotter transformer is likely a very good one, but there are scores of excellent SUTs available and only one with specs matching the one heard by the OP will sound (more or less) the same. Just throwing out names of good units isn’t really that helpful in relation to the actual question.

Yes, it was 50 Ohm and the match sounds good ... 

Indeed, I can purchase a Verion/Cotter .. but does some tested it with a Skala and a M7 ? 

And I would really like to know if someone has try the Kondo KSL stetup with the Skala ?

You should look into an Intact Audio SUT which is also marketed under the EMIA name.  Each one is custom wound by Dave Slagle to the specs of a given cartridge and is available with either copper or silver windings.  I use a copper 1:10 with my Benz LP.

Finally, I decided to invest in the Kondo KSL SFz ...
PLease wait some coiuple of weeks ... and I will update you to confirm (or not) this fit well.

I have have had several iterations of the Kondo KSL - SFz  as well as the Audtorium T1 in my system.  i switched to the SA Lab about a year ago and prefer it to both the Kondo SFz and Autitorium T1.   I know several people that switched from the Kondo to the S.A. Labs once heard.

Just saw this post. I've been a huge fan of the Kondo KSL-SFz SUT until I heard the S.A. Labs SUT. This with the Kondo IO-M cartridge. Sold my Kondo SUT and have not looked back. 

The Kondo, S.a. Lab and Auditorium units all have different specs and the cartridge will see different impedances, so of course each will sound different from the others.  That has little to do with either unit being "better" than another (particularly with units as over-engineered as these) and everything to do with which one provides the best subjective sound quality.
