I second used meridians! they have been doing active dsp a long time and are very easy to use after set up. The used prices are dirt cheap but and the sound is natural.
There's some small JBL active that cost $150 at best buy and we use them at work, my daughter uses it to clean house. portable, sturdy, and portable. did i mention they have color options?
