Cognac/Armagnac: Various, I have a large collection.
Beer: Microbrews-Slipknot1,I love Magic Hat #9 but it's hard to find in DC
Wine: Leftover Samples, I'm a wine rep. Prefer Italian and French.
Cpdunn99,
For Italian Primitivo try Anfora Zinfandel. It's from Puglia, labelled as Zin buit's Primitivo and it's made by a hotshot Aussie winemaker named Chris Ringland. Best of all, it's around $9-10 retail. Happy listening and drinking!
Endoit,is Heinz Triomphe special ultra-premium ketchup?
Just kidding, I think you meant Hine, great cognac, I have a rapidly disappearing bottle myself.
Cpdunn99,
Don't drink those Sauternes just yet. I think another 6-7 years will make them perfect. And Agonanon, try some really good bleu cheese, i.e. Colston Basset Stilton, with your Sauternes instead of strawberries and see what you think. Cheers!
Cpdunn99,
Any good Sauternes will benefit from about 10 years of bottle age. Sugar and alcohol combine to make them relatively indestructable.
Mghcanuck,
I hope for your sake you get to taste some of those bottles, Y'quem is about as good as it gets. I personally find foie gras and Sauternes to be just a little too rich for my tastes but I know many people like it. I prefer salty with sweet, hence the bleus.
Cpdunn99,
Congrats on your move, have fun in paradise. I totally understand the urge to drink beer, but I have one local wine recommendation. It's called Maui Blanc, a white wine made from, believe it or not, pineapples! Though it's been about 15 years since I've had it I remember it as not too sweet, off-dry, and very fragrant and delicious. Give it a try, if they're still making it!
