Beeping sound coming out of left speaker?

Hi,
Need some help please.
Just recently I've been having these strange beeping sounds coming out of my left speaker every so often. It only lasts a few seconds and I've never heard it actually come out while music was playing until tonight. It sounds almost like morse code.I've never had any problems with my stereo setup until now and I've had it for about six years.I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what could be going on? is this a normal occurrence? Thanks!

"The first thing you should do is swap around speaker cables. (Hook the left speaker up to the right cable and vice versa) "

That's the first thing I did tonight as soon as I got home and wouldn't you know it so far it hasn't happened at all yet.It only seems to happen during a certain time (around midnight to 5 am) so maybe it is just a cellphone or a neighbor with a ham radio set.
The beeps from your LEFT speaker are, in fact, morse code. From Michael Moore.

Tread lightly.
Yeah certain cell phones near my computer speakers do this, very weird in a system though, but its got to do with your cell phone updating all the time with some info or testing from the tower....I am just wondering what its entering only the left channel from? Maybe an oversensitive tube or something.

Maybe it's backing up......

The first thing you should do is swap around speaker cables. (Hook the left speaker up to the right cable and vice versa)
You need to determine whether its the speaker or something further up stream.
If the sound stays with the speaker then you'll know its the speaker.
If it is not the speaker follow the same procedure with the upstream components until the source of the noise is ascertained.
You do not mention equipment. Tubes? SS? Whats hooked up to the speakers? What type of power conditioning equipment? Does this just happen right when you turn your equipment on?

If its tubes you could be experiencing warm up of a bad tube. If you have equipment that uses a remote this could be a problem with the electronics for the servos that move the volume control and switch the imput.
