b & w 804 s

hey  b & w 804s speakers are cutting out  for a second at not really high volume

marley119

@marley119 you have to send the Amp companies an email and send the speaker maker an email then.

Cos those amps shouldn't be choking

@marley119

I see that you have posted this issue before, therefore lets just to recap what is happening...

  • The sound is cutting out on BOTH speakers at normal listening levels.  (80 dB at 6 feet away from the speaker)
  • You have swapped out both the Parasound A21 amp and Adcom GFP-915 preamp with something else and the sound is still cutting out.
  • You have NOT changed the music source (Rotel 1072 CD player), and the CD player was having "skipping" problems in the past.

Questions:

  • How long is the sound cutting out?  Does it come back on it's own, or do you have to power cycle any of the electronics to get it back?
  • Is the CD player your only music source?  If not, does the sound cut out with other music sources?
  • Have you checked the cable connections at the speaker to make sure you do not have a short or that one is loose?
  • Have you changed out the cables (interconnects and speaker cables) to confirm there is not a bad cable causing a problem?
  • Are you sure it is not a AC power issue?  Either a bad outlet, bad power strip, power flickering off for a moment (causing the equipment to turn off and then back on)

between 80 and 90 , skipping and stopping, i swapped out original for the parasound and adcom , keeping the rotel cd, cuts out for second, checked cable connections when installed  parasound and adcom,, changed out tara omni bi wire for monster 16 gauge, banana clips, i have some gear it 14 gauge , outlet is good, strip is power protect av600. it is color coded and marked for tv, amp, cd, etc,  i did not follow these. under 80 is pleasant with no skips. no power flickering  paul
