Aurilac Vega G2 vs Aries G2

Folks,

Anyone have the Vega G2?

For $3,800 you get the streamer. for Another $2k the vega g2, which is a DAC and has the older aries streaming in it. Seems like getting the vega is a bet on the DAC is amazing.

Alternatively, one could get the aries g1 streamer and any dac you like. thoughts?

@david_ten Thanks for the link.

@shadorne The wireless approach was always a preferred way for me. However, I have jumped through hoops to go direct Ethernet because of past criticisms of Wifi (going through house copper wires, rendu, etc..). I am going to look into the new wifi based streaming approaches.
Xuanqian Wang may seem to be a lone voice of reason to Darko but I think many engineers feel the same:-

  • There is no unique advantage to any interface system. All interfaces can work brilliantly and perfectly if they are well built and properly designed. Some interfaces are inherently more challenging than others - physical electrical connections can obviously bring in spurious noise. USB interfaces for example carry power which is not a good thing - this complicates things.
  • Wifi has distinct advantages (wireless and no electrical connection). Some minor disadvantages due to limited throughput.

Darko however makes a great point - if you are at all worried about electrical noise than you could use Toslink - it elegantly solves the problem as there is no electrical connection - it has been around a lot longer than wifi (not its first rodeo) and most modern DACs completely reject all the higher jitter that tends to be present on a Toslink interface.

So why try something new when there is a better mousetrap designed years ago and thoroughly debugged?

There is is very little original stereo music that cannot be transferred bit perfect over optical...

just a thought - why not let others blaze a trail and debug a new interface...
I was researching these units today and was wondering how good the Ethernet direct into the Vega G2 is. Aurilac seems to prefer wireless, so I was wondering if the Vega's Ethernet is the best connection option?
