Audible Illusion Modulus 3A CD connection

I have the AI 2D which does not has the CD input. I normally use the AUX input. When I switched to the TAPE input, it boosted volume significantly (have to lower the volume from 11am to 7am when switched from AUX to TAPE. Wonder if TAPE passes through a gain stage?

Found using the Tape In was best with my AI L1. Noticible increase in transparency. Auxillary input is better than CD input. But Tape In is best.

The Aux input is a better path. There're a pair of resistors in series with the CD input. You can also try the Tape In. I found it sounded ok. You will only notice the difference if your systems overall resolution is up to snuff.
