Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen too?

For me there is one that has always been top of the list.

Edith Piaf…..l just can’t think of anything worse.

Do not get me wrong and consider my choice is in any way racist….l love to listen to music with songs in any language… Italian, French, Spanish…..

Russian and German can however be extremely demanding, but Edith Piaf (if possible in any language) is a potential harrowing experience.

Do any others on here have a similar artist, or artists that can trigger the same physical reaction?

mylogic

It is why it is useless to dress a list of what we love or hate...It is part of our personal journey...

Especially if we dont have any explanation about why we love it or hate it...

For example i can understand why the Bob Dylan voice is repulsive to many...

But why did i learn to love his voice tone ?

Because i paid  attention to poetry...

Why  many people dislike Persian music  or Mozart operas?

Because they dont pay attention to it....

Tastes are like a beast born from our attention and we must learn how to tame it... At least to some extent.... We cannot love everything in the same way and on the same level...

@mahgister that’s a good call on how it tastes are required by circumstance and sometimes by accident. As much as anyone on this post reviles a particular artist or genre, we know we all have certain artists and taste that most others would just cringe from but we absolutely love! I acquired my love of rush because one of my college teammates played it on the bus on the way back from a game and all the sudden that magic voice instrumentals just hit home. But then again, I can dive deep into Coltrane or AUTUMN! Or Julie London, and still guiltlessly Revel in Debbie Gibson or Katy Perry.

l like the reasoning and stepping back and having another look, or listen as debated in these last two posts. The idea of this discussion was more about irritations and not hatred towards recording artists. I am sure more people like those artists mentioned than actually hate them.

The intention of the discussion was to say why any said artists were perceived as underachieved or bad and to share the reasoning why. I have mentioned a few times before to members to add more information as to the whys. Unfortunately most of the lists have just been that, just lists.

Any future members wanting to post on this discussion please add more facts to the debate. Declare exactly what it is that bugs you about these performers. Who knows some others on here may take note and revisit these artists and choose to agree or not. There may be more meaningful posts back (like the two above) with new informed attitudes or opinions.

There have now been 21,000+ posts. Thank you to everyone who have visited or have consistently revisited.

Springsteen... "Born to Run" ... Run from the draft is what he did.. He makes up songs about the plight of the working class but never worked any job for one day in his life. Now he tries to be politically relevant. Even his own father couldn't stand him and hated his music.

i like your intention and attention but most people will enumerate what they dont like without explanation...

I know why i like Bruckner it is less evident why i dislike  some artists...
