Yes, that would be the fastest way to make sure. @ricco275 Thanks for sharing the update of the changes with the new preamp. Your findings are concordant with what I have observed over the last couple of years, especially since we started carrying some of the very high end DACs. The perceived differences between DACs are very dependent how resolving your system is as well as how dialed in your system is from a proper set up. The more resolving your system is, the easier it is to hear the differences and the improvements. If your system is set up properly, it is easier to hear the improved imaging and spatial information that a better DAC can provide. Component synergy also plays a role. That's why we feel the best way to know is audition the gear in your own home and in your own system.

@choiceaudio @zlone - I worked with Choice Audio to upgrade the Merason Dac1 from Mki to the new Mkii version. Just got it back in the mail and put it back into my system. It's definitely a worthy upgrade. I've not had much time with it yet, but I'd say I hear improvement in tone, detail and overall musicality. |
@bluethinker Thanks for your kind words! I'm glad you are enjoying the upgrade, give it a week or so and it should really start singing. We have had a few trade ins for Merason DACs in the last couple of weeks. One was particular DAC was almost 2X the cost of the Merason Reuss DAC. |
Good move! I will look forward to your impressions once it has had some time to settle in to your system. I was not in the market yet, but ran into a deal on a Reuss a while back and couldn’t pass it up. It is an awesome DAC. I was able to compare it to a DAC1 in my system and felt the Reuss was more refined. I am guessing the Mk2 is a very significant upgrade. |
@choiceaudio - Within moments, I could tell the upgrade to the MKii version was well worth it. If someone has the funds, I'd strongly recommend pursuing the upgrade. Some day, if things go to plan, I'll hopefully be able to come and visit your showroom and demo the AudioNet amps. |
