Any Pink Floyd Fans out there ???

One of my favorite Pink Floyd disc is Obscured By Clouds. The re-mastered version is outstanding. Along those lines, give Ambrosia a try. Their first two albums sound like Pink Floyd meets the Beach Boys, good stuff.

I second Treyhoss' suggestion. I like the Division Bell too although you don't hear many people mention it when speaking of Floyd. Meddle is a classic and needs no further introduction.

Have you ever wondered where Floyd would be now / where they would have gone if Sid had stayed in the band ???? Anybody ever listen to his solo stuff ?

As to Rwwear's question about Porcupine Tree, i bought two of their albums based on similar recommendations. They are listenable but nothing special in my book. That is not to say that someone else might not love them, only that i didn't.

Any of you folks listen to old Hawkwind stuff ? Am i showing my age again ??? : ) Sean

Haoleb, you need to get "Wish You Were Here". Awesome recording and great music to boot! It will fit in well with your other Floyd recordings. BTW: The Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason, both post RW, are good albums as well!

Have you listened to any Porcupine Tree yet? It's great stuff.

WYWH is a must have, try to get the Japanese EMI release.

I just bought the Roger waters in the flesh DVD yesterday. WHY didnt i buy it sooner?? I agree the band is good, not the same as if the rest of the guys were there, but good. And i am a big PF fan , i cant get enough of em.. Can anyone reccomend a good floyd cd? I already have:

Dark Side Of The Moon
The Wall
Animals
And i have The wall live

Porcupine Tree is one of the best new bands you will ever hear if you like this type of music.

There are a few albums made by Out Of Phase: The Wall 2000, DSOTM 2001, Animals2001, WYWH 2…. (don’t remember exact numbers but you’ve got the idea)
They are actually pretty good. Like up-to-date remakes with a slight twist. I’ve enjoyed them. Funny thing they make you appreciate the original PF records even more. Just show you that modern tools and skills aren’t enough if there is no real genius present. And those PF records were made 20 – 30 years ago…
BTW, there is a CD, don’t remember exact name, but it’s a Bluegrass tribute to PF. Stay away. It’s not even funny how bad it is.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Roger Waters' live CD and DVD In The Flesh which has many Floyd songs and two of the best guitarists around in Snowy White(Thin Lizzy,White Flames, Pink Floyd,Peter Green) and Doyle Bramhall II. One of the best shows I've seen.

Another one similar somewhat to Pink Floyd would be The Crazy World of Aurthur Brown. Don't know if any of his stuff is out on CD though. That's my two cents. Best, Charlie

I have the one you are talking about. Mine is the original two CD version, the newer is only one CD. I also have The Moon Revisited by various artists on Magna Carta. I like it a lot but it is very close to the original. It has a very dynamic sound with deep bass, sounds quite good. And I just got a copy of Les Claypool's(Primus)Frog Brigade doing a live version of Animals. It's really good. It's called Live Frogs Set 2. Set 1 is good also but they mostly their own songs except for Thela Hun Ginjeet(K. Crimson)and a version of Shine on You Crazy Diamond. One that I have that I don't recommend is The Rock Anthem Orchestra Performs Pink Floyd. I bought it site unseen online for only a couple of bucks. It says that it is in Dolby Surround and uses the Cedar system. It's not very good in my opinion. A band that I recommend if you like Floyd is a band called Think Floyd. Their CDs are hard to find in the US(Synth Music Direct has them)They write their own stuff in the spirit of Pink Floyd and are very good at it.

Thats funny becouse I'm into Pink Floyd and Into allot of the Darker goth bands and I don't have thet one never heard of it. I usually don't like covers of peoples stuff so I probable wasn't ever looking.
