In general, too little power is more likely to cause damage than too much, since you will more likely drive the amp into clipping, which will damage the speakers, than overdrive the speakers, unless you listen at insane volume levels. .
Amp Upgrade
I am looking to upgrade my front mains to a 2 channel Classe' amp. My thoughts were that the CA 201 or CA 2200 would be my best choice. How would the CA 301 match up? I am driving B&W 804S with max power rating of 200W. Is it best to match the power rating on the speaker with the power rating on the amp? My current amp/pre is a Rotel RSP-1066, RMB-1075. I know my question is a little naive, but I am learning.
