Often in the evenings, when my wife, young adult daughter, and I are home chilling out together from the day’s endeavors and we have had enough of the news for the day, I’ve managed to be able to put my system in play in a manner that everyone enjoys.
My family room setup is simple: Cambridge Evo 150 running Roon to Sonus Faber Concerto Domus speakers with a 60" Samsung Smart TV on the wall.
I typically play (at low volume just enough to not just be background music) a Roon playlist that everyone might enjoy or just put some portion of my library on Random play. So most any music genre since the beginning of recorded music might be played. It’s all worth experiencing at least once to gain an appreciation for teh history of recorded music as a whole! I use the browser on my Samsung as a Roon display to show what’s playing in 60" high res. Many better known tunes show the lyrics as they are sung. My wife in particular enjoys seeing and following the lyrics to songs she likes that would have gone by undeciphered perhaps otherwise.
Very nice to be able to get my family to enjoy my system and experience and enjoy so much music that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Then I have my mancave downstairs where I can go for uninterrupted listening sessions on my own.
Life is good! I am hoping others find ways to share the joy of good music with family and friends as well.
Cheers!
