You may have a bad cord, or dirty connection. See if reseating the plug and/or wiggling the cable does anything. If wiggling the cable makes it change, you have a bad cord.
Also, if your amp and pre both have triggers, you may not need the furman in the way.
I use the trigger feature from a HT processor to turn on the HT amps, and the subwoofer at the same time, but only because none of those have trigger features.
