Ascend Sierra 1 Reference vs. Era D5
Well, this is a reply to what is an old thread but all I can say is that I find the D5's to be a phenomenal performer for their price. The fit and finish is very good. I find the D5s to do all the things that a monitor speaker is supposed to do an...
Has anyone compared the CJ ET3 to the Premier 17LS
Thanks for the insights. I have been really happy with my Premier 17 and like the balance feature plus the "brick" remote. Of course, like most audiophiles, the "change" bug bites me every so often. One tube in a preamp is also intriguing. I might...
Which preamp........for sonic bliss????
Hi Dave,I received an e-mail from Ken, who told you about the ModWright 9.0SE. Let me say right from the start that I have had over 14 preamps, about 10 of those in the last few years, and I never found just the right one, somewhat like Goldilocks...
Moving to Horn speakers
My response is of a different nature. I live in the US and have a pair of Lumley Signature Reference 150 monoblocks. Could you PLEASE help me and tell me if anyone is still selling these and if there is any chance of getting a part I really need. ...
Lumley M250
Good luck. I have a pair of the 150 Signature Reference monoblocks that I purchased 10 years ago. Aside from finding scattered Lumley owners through Audiogon, I believe that Lumley has closed up shop and that there are no more Lumleys to be had. I...
Ray Lumley M100 tube amps
I know that this really late but I just checked this section of Audiogon. I have a pair of Lumley Signature Reference 150 watt monoblocks (from England, not imported) and I have had them now for 10 years. I used them once upon a time with Apogee S...
Belles 20A.. comments/comparison to Rogue 99Mag?
I have a Belles 20A preamp. Though I have had it for only a few weeks, it is probably one of the best sounding preamps I have heard, or owned (and I have owned over 11 preamps!)It is NOT mated with a Belles amp, but rather a pair of tubed monobloc...
CD v. SACD
I was not going to buy, convinced it was just another gimmick. Wrong! I bought a Sony SACD player today and WOW!, even on "redbook" CDs it sings. The SACD is just a side benefit, and those, well, they are are good, if not better, than the vinyl I ...
Lumley Amps
Pernilla@starpower.net. I sent you an e-mail. Did you receive it?
Best used preamp for around $1000. . .
I would recommend a Cary SLP 50 A, not the B, if you can find one. The A is great, especially with oil caps. The sound is rather remarkable for such a small (in stature) preamp. Good luck.
