4-500 $ cartridge for Project Debut Carbon ?
With such good results from the Ortofon why look for something different? Different is what you are going to get. Better may not be in the dna of that table/arm. You are getting more than you could have dreamed with that table. Rather than squeez...
Best monitor for under $4000.00
How about KEF LS-50 with a REL sub, for low to moderate listening you may not find a better monitor. It will certainly compete with monitors you mentioned. At the very least give it a listen, it is unlike anything I have heard in years.
Which is REALLY the best Conrad Johnson Preamp
I find the sound of my CJ PV 10 to be on the warm side of the 50 yard line. It still seems nimble, almost fast to react to changes in the music. Never rolled, it seems to be a pretty clean window to whatever front end you are using. I realize you ...
1st time poster looking for speaker recommendation
Barkus- the best reccomendation would be for you to get out and listen to as many brands as you can. All speakers have a sonic flavor, some bright and forward, some relaxed and laid back, most somewhere in between. Find what is pleasing to you and...
Do 45 RPM records need higher anti-skate setting?
When there is a groove, the inside face restrains the stylus, so there is effectively no such force, because the arm is rotating only minimally (at less than 0.01 rpm), and the stylus has such a tiny mass, that any forces are negligible, and total...

New turntable help
Zenblaster.. Why did you use the traveler over the scout? It sounded more musical in my system. And it is a simple yet very well thought out design that is built like a tank. Listen to the both and you will see that there is a difference, the choic...
Neutral or warm? Which do you prefer?
I have nothing against folks that enjoy a tilted up high frequency response, but I do wish they would stop referring to it as 'neutral' soundingI couldn't agree with you more. Evertime someone has reccomended a "nuetral" speaker to me, all I hear ...
Busted Polk LSi9 worth keeping?
M-Lores would be a nice move for you if you have the right amp. What do you have for amp and front end?
New turntable help
Those three turntables couldn't sound more different from one another, so it going to come down to your prefrences. They are all very nice, well thought out and heavily built. I sold my Scout and kept a Traveler so listen to this one also. I hope ...
Digital vs Interconnect Cables - Difference?
sometimes you will like the DAC inside the preamp and sometimes you may prefer what came inside your CD player.I suppose there are a few components that could be considered preamps that have dac, most do not. CD players have dac's.I use digital rc...
Need $1000 used tube preamp - Please help???
I have a CJ PV-10 that I have used for the past 5 years and think it sounds great with a ss amp. The phono stage is outstanding. The Audible Illusions is a great buy for 700. I have been thinking of selling or trading the CJ, let me know if you ar...
Review: Technics SL-1200Mk2 Turntable
@MoorelGrave robber, never thought i would this zombie.
Why the difference?
All record players sound great until the needle hits the record. That's when different motor systems react differently to the drag that is placed upon them. The more dramatic/dynamic the music that is recorded, the more drag that is placed on the ...
Cable Costs Relative to System
Each component is made up of parts and pieces that are connected by "wire". Exceeding the quality of the wire in your systems components is counterintuitive since we all agree that a system cannot surpass its weakest parts and pieces. Buying a $15...
