Mac C-32 which way.... I would go with powered speakers.
Speakers for low power tube amplifier You might be surprised in that your amp may be more powerful than you think. I have a VAC 30/30 which is also 2 300B's in push pull. It has a bit more power than your amp, but not that much. Right now I have it working very well with a pair of Wil...
Good integrated match for B&W CDM 1 NT Tntate,"First, I'm uncertain as to what a line stage is, passive or active. Is my Onkyo active? How can I tell? Also, is this something listed in the specs by most equipment manufacturers? Is passive a better match for my speakers and what should ...
What would you do? Foster 9,You, and a few of the other posters, are of a similar opinion. I'm not saying you guys are wrong. I completely understand your argument. In this case, however, even if the manufacturer made a mistake and did not put all the packing materi...
Best DAC Mac Mini with HUGE soundstage? I would avoid using the Toslink out on the Mac Mini. USB would be a better choice. You can get a DAC with USB support directly, or get a USB to spdif converter. That way you are not limited only to DACs with USB.
What would you do? I don't know who's at fault here other than the shipping company. The dealer offered to come out and completely fix the problem. Given that, I don't see that there is a problem. You could return them and buy the Polk's like Rok2id says, but they c...
Parasound A51 - Different Temp Heatsinks? I would first try to determine if you even have a problem. Its possible that the different heatsinks on your amp are colling different components that operate at different temperatures. I would just call Parasound and ask them. Also, I don't see w...
Waterlogged Thiel CS-3.6 Why don't you just file a claim with the insurance company. You can probably get replacement value for the speakers or they may opt to but you a new cabinet.
Good integrated match for B&W CDM 1 NT If your funds are limited, I would go with something that has a passive line stage. Cheap active line stages are almost always bright. A Creek 5350SE would be a very good choice. If you are willing to go with 2 separate pieces, I would recommend g...
Cartridge Setup - Where to buy tools? The Cable Company/Ultra Systems would be my first choice. I can't say enough good about them. Been dealing with them for at least 15 years. Acoustic sounds is another great choice.
Wav to Flac using Dbpoweramp Sorry I wasn't able to get to get back to this thread sooner. Thanks to Dtc for saving me a lot of typing, as well. Excellent description of the whole process. All the info in Dtc's post is very accurate. The only thing I can add is a few tips on ...
Need speaker for a small space and close to wall Spendor, Proac and Harbeth may be worth looking into.
what to choose? I was considering the Naim you mention above. Very overrated. The price very high for what they give you. I highly recommend the Ayre 7 for CD only, and the 5 if you need to play other formats. For just Redbook, I like the 7 better than the 5.
Inexplicable muddy sound on phono input I'm pretty sure I found your problem. The default setting on your phono preamp is for a moving coil cart. That's way too much gain. Follow the instructions on P.24 of your owners manual and remove the phono cards. You actually have 2 small phono c... |
