Synergistic Research Comes Down to Earth
Excellent post. It makes you realize just how diverse a system can be and still sound great. For me, the real issue is not weather SR has "Come down to earth" but are their products worth the money; at all price levels. I understand, though, that m...
Belles 150A ref V2 vs Bryston 4BSST2
The Bryston 3 and 4's are OK. I've listened to them both. I have heard good things about the Belles but have no experience with it. These are all good, but different sounding products. I would recommend that you listen to some amps before you get ...
I think I need an audio repeater - need simplicity
A universal remote will probably work for you. For the Oppo, find out who makes the transport and use those codes. For the rest of the system, a learning remote should work. By using the learning function, you will not have to enter codes.
Anyone know what kind of XLO speaker cable this is

does your system "warm up" and then sound better?
Timrhu brings up a good point. "I turn my equipment on a few minutes before listening and turn it off when I'm finished. The cdp stays warm to the touch in standby so I don't think it needs any warm up time. The amp warms up in 10 minutes or so."A...
Next Phonostage
I would look at an Ayre P5xe and one of the BAT's.

Do I really need a Dac?
Rok2id,"No offense taken. No, I am not that new, I am just more into the music side of things as opposed to the gear. Sometimes I get confused and say things that on retrospect seem strange. I'm confused because, if you look at the most expensive ...
what else do i need to improve sonic performance?
There's many different ways you can upgrade your system. A couple of people mentioned going with new power cords. I agree that they do make a difference. The one thing I would recommend, though, is to try the cables in your system before you buy t...
Vandersteen 2ce questions
Its great to see that you got the speakers working. I have a question, though. What did you actually do to fix the problem. You say that you measured your room. Given that, I have to assume that it was a placement issue.
Do I really need a Dac?
Rok2id,"No you don't. DAC's are just in the middle of their 15 minutes of fame. It will pass."No offense, but you must be new to audio. Separate DAC's have been very popular in the high end for well over 20 years. Also, your comment, "It will pass...

Phono advice for my current set up please?
I had the 10x5 as well, and upgraded to the low output 20x2. Its a big change for the better and won't cost a lot.
DId lightening strike twice? Amp s problem
I have the same VAC amp that your have. It's a very quiet and well made product. The only time I have ever had any noise issues is with cables that are not made well. If you can, I would try some different IC's. Right now, I have some Tara cables ...
does your system "warm up" and then sound better?
I think Mechans meant its not a good idea to leave tube gear on 24/7. I have to agree. Tube gear, just like solid state, usually benefits from some warm up time before listening. To the OP; leave everything on that you can. If you leave your CD pl...
