Using sony bdp-s360 as audio input to eotel ra-106
Why don't you try it and see? It really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. You're the one that has to listen to it.
What's causing hiss??
"Have you tried a different set of speakers with a lower sensitivity? If the hiss is still unacceptable with different speakers, then it would seem that there is a problem with the Vincent’s preamp. If the preamp does have a problem, then doing an...
New cables for Thorens TD 160
"The odds are slim that both cartridges are bad inthe same way, right?"Just to be clear, I didn't think the cartridges are bad, but just didn't have enough gain to work well with your pre. It is possible that they both put out about the same amoun...
What's causing hiss??
Does your PS Audio DAC have any type of gain settings? It could be internal or external. If it does, lower the gain and that will probably fix the problem.
When do you choose vinyl over digital?
I can't wait to see how many people go out an get audiophile dogs now for their systems. Do you have to get a Basset Hound or can you have another type of dog modded for audiophile use?
Which is the best amplifier or the best choise?
You may want to try running your amp in a different configuration than what you have now. Use 4 channels instead of 2. Get another pair of speaker cables and use 2 channels on your Theta for the highs and 2 for the lows. Doing this will allow your...
What's causing hiss??
"T-amp is 15 watts, integrated is 150 watts, speakers are a super efficient 104 db Klipsch LaScala."That's the problem. When you have speakers that efficient, you have to be careful matching your components, otherwise you'll get a gain related his...
Here's a weird one...
You can check it. Play with the volume buttons and see if you can make them stick. If you can't, its probably not the remote.
Suggestions for a good stereo preamp and amp
"3-to get a noticable difference in power, you will more or less have to double the wattage. A multi channel receiver will put out more power into 2 channels vs 5 or 7."There's more to it than that. Its hard to judge the power an amp by looking at...
Suggestions for a good stereo preamp and amp
If you like the Krell, I wouldn't be to fast to rule it out. I think its possible get a good used one and still be within budget.
Cartridge for punk, rock, emo, indie?
Rlwainwright does bring up a good point. If you buy a cart and use it like a tone control, you may cause more problems than you fix. Its kind of like buying an EQ with only 1 setting. The music you are listening to has a very wide range as to the ...
Suggestions for a good stereo preamp and amp
I agree. At this price point, I think an integrated would be a better way to go. The Krell would be a good choice. Another integrated you may want to consider is a Musical Fidelity A3.5. I used to have one, and while I'm not a big fan of B&W, ...
Cartridge for punk, rock, emo, indie?
"07-26-13: SchubertBecause an accurate cart makes many rock records unlistenable could be one reason."Why?
Scraping sound
Bill_K,After I typed out my response, I looked at your reply again and thought I may have read your post wrong. I don't see how the platter bearing could cause a scraping noise like the OP describes. (I'm not saying you are wrong. I may be overloo...
What's causing hiss??
Is the hiss identical for both the left and right channels? Also, do you get the hiss when you switch to an input that has nothing connected to it?
