Gallo Ref 3 and CJ Premier 350 I've heard great things about this amp from people who should know. What was your previous amp?
I profess no knowledge re. Professor Longhair... "Crawfish Fiesta" is a great album, get it anyway even if you get a collection of the vintage stuff (which is also great). Few legendary artists of the 50's have gone on to make as fine a recording decades after their heyday (a relative term in th...
Audience Au24 Bi-wire or w/Jumper with N803 I own both Satori and Au24, and the Au24 is my preference (on Thiel floorstanders similar in size to 803's, which as I mentioned above cannot be biwired). Satori is a warmer, "fatter" sounding cable, but IMO is not as fast or neutral as Au24. Au24...
Gallo REfF3's-All their cracked up to be? Thanks guys. I am less bothered by the midband suckouts which develop vertically off-axis in low-order systems (like the SF) than I am by the vertical off-axis HF rolloff shown with systems using short lines instead of domes. What I don't know for...
Keef Out Of His Tree The Monkey Man & The Coconut Blblues68: I dunno, by my reckoning it's been close to 30 years since the Stones gave live performances that weren't more show than emotionally meaningful...besides, Keith could end the Stones anytime he wanted, no convincing of Mick necessary. Do...
Tracking Force Gauges "Here where I live, there is an unlimited supply of clowns"I believe Albert refers to the great state of Texas (I just wish you'd stop exporting them to my area of DC -- we have enough here already! ;^)
Gallo REfF3's-All their cracked up to be? Do these speakers have limited vertical HF dispersion -- do you lose the highs noticably when you stand up unless you are in the farfield?
Is Direct Drive Really Better? "62 Hz, 89 rpm, 16%. WOW!" LOL!But: "The existing stock of affordable DD tables is small and stable and the concensus here says that mass produced DD will never again be seen."The stock of new SL-1200's is virtually unlimited and will be mass-prod...
whats the best styus cleaner gel Never heard of Magic Eraser, what the heck is it?A member I bought a cartridge from threw in a ZeroDust he had lying around as an afterthought when I picked up the cart, so I didn't pay for mine. I'm glad I didn't. Oh, it works perfectly well for ...
SOTA Nova vs SME 20/2 I have never seen this "negative advertising" against vacuum hold-down. I have seen the "vinyl leaching" argument mentioned online, but don't believe it for a second. I've never owned a vacuum table, but harbor a prejudice that I wouldn't want to ...
Amplifier Mods Do you know how these mods may differ from SMc's?
Is this the future of the next CD player I look forward to having something like the Olive in my system one day. But did you dig the author of this article defining a DAC as being a "digital audio controller"? That's pathetic.
Ayre V-5x vs. McCormack DNA 225 I should probably start a new thread ;^)
Is Direct Drive Really Better? I don't disagree with any of what Tom has said here, but I do think it would be reactionary to suppose that there is a looming "specs war" afoot regarding turntables. First of all, almost the entire market today for the type of turntables we are t...
Is this safe? Don't do either thing you're talking about, both bad ideas. Just manually swap the wires at your preamp's XLR input when you want to change to the other source (with the volume off of course) -- probably what you've been doing. A little inconvenie... |
