Speltz Anti-cable needs break-in period? ...and 19 minutes. And 53 seconds. About.
Thiel 3.7 Mcteague, did you buy finished or build your own, and how'd you hear them first? Reading the Linkwitz website, the Orion does seem to be in opposition to some central Thiel design precepts. Have you found it necessary to do anything special in the...
Whats on your turntable tonight? A 2-CDR comp I made of my favorite Walker Brothers featuring Scott Walker. Kinda like Spector/Righteous Brothers but sans most of the 'blue-eyed soul' pretentions, transplanted to England and injected with pretentions of pathos and Brel instead.Th...
Speltz Anti-cable needs break-in period? Tgrisham sez:"With my Von Schweikert VR-4JRs, I use the Speltz anti-cables. I have tried twisted and untwisted and found the bass more defined and quicker using untwisted."This would seem to jibe with the recommendation for twisting to achieve max...
Thiel 3.7 Like buttah huh? Wow, that's over $1K higher than I was expecting based on earlier grapevine. But hey, long as it's bright and metallic sounding with the proverbial great bass (and this with tubes no less!), surely we dedicated followers of Thiel ...
Thiel 3.7 Anybody hear these at the recent RMAF show?
Speltz Anti-cable needs break-in period? Late in the game for posting to this thread, but I wonder if anybody above who found the Anti-Cables a bit light in the loafers used them untwisted (i.e., spaced apart), which as I understand the electrical theory of the situation could make indiv...
Speaker Cables for Thiel 2.4 With my CS2.2's I preferred Au24 to Cross, and AZ Satori fell in between (all were cables I own/owned). But I've recently changed amps (to a DNA-500) and am currently auditioning some others in hopes of stepping up the SC again if possible...
Audience Au24 with high current SS amps.... I use Au24 with my DNA-500 with no problems (speakers are Thiel). However, I thought their sound better complemented my VTL tube mono's in certain respects, and am presently checking out some other SC alternatives for comparisons.
What are we listening to tonight? The Pretty Things -- "S.F Sorrow" [Snapper '98, orig. British EMI '68]Remastered-for-CD version, includes 4 bonus cuts of the incredible single tracks from '67 that led up to this concept album ("Defecting Grey", "Mr. Evasion", "Talkin' About The ...
Whats on your turntable tonight? A bit more research has revealed that The Swimmer soundtrack composed by Marvin Hamlisch (see my above list of found records) has actually been recently reissued on CD, here's a review. Also, the early John Lee Hooker tracks issued on King label 78...
Plastic ring over tweeter opinion Eldee: No mistake, the thread's been permanently deep sixed (try the link I provided in my first post above, which wasn't dead when the thread was active; also the thread title "Who Does He Think He's Fooling?" has disappeared from the list of thr...
Whats on your turntable tonight? Amends: A little research has shown that the Herb Geller "Fire In The West" LP on Jubilee I listed above is actually from '57, recorded in March of that year (likely making it pretty close to as early as it gets for a jazz album in stereo)
Plastic ring over tweeter opinion Update: More than two years after the fact, Audiogon has now deleted from the archives my above-referenced thread concerning the advice (such as circumsizing your tweeters) proffered in the Mapleshade catalog. Let me say for the record that, any s...
Review: van den Hul The Orchid Interconnect Aball: I compared the Mainsserver against the Mainsstream in my system, both with digital separates and on the preamp. In the end I preferred the Mainssteam in spite of my fondness for the Mainsserver's skinny, lightweight construction. I thought ... |
